Koreans and Jews in Brooklyn were the victims du jour for criminal blacks. Even in Manhattan, they behaved abominably toward the Korean grocers who worked late into the night and were often the only thing open after hanging out in clubs. They provided light and security! But because they were basically incommunicative due to language barriers and, in their culture, they didn’t touch strangers (all change was slapped down on the counter), blacks took that to mean they didn’t want to touch THEM. (It never occurred to them that they didn’t touch whites either.)
