On Friday, the New York Times reported that Clinton told FBI officials former Secretary of State Colin Powell had advised her to use a personal email account while she held the Secretary of State office herself.
"Her people have been trying to pin it on me," Powell, 79, told PEOPLE Saturday night at the Apollo in the Hamptons 2016 Night of Legends fête in East Hampton, New York.
"The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did," Powell added.

Even what he does acknowledge he told her explicitly excludes anything classified. He didn’t have a long military career and become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs without knowing how classified information is handled.

2001 - 2005 - Colin Powell steps into a State department that apparently had no email system. He started using email to communicate. While in office he spearheaded an effort to upgrade the State Departments internal communications.
2005-2009 - Condoleeza Rice was Sec State.
2009 - Hillary Clinton arrives with no intention of ever obeying the law.
