NBC reviewed the story, and showed a damaged door frame - unclear whether it was THE door or just a stock photo.
This video does not show the bathroom door being kicked in, but it does show a person going in the bathroom. Four coming out who look like they could be the swimmers, plus another who looks like a service station worker.
