Time for a Ted Cruz reboot, as poll shows Republicans down on him since his snub of Trump
The Dallas Morning News ^ | August 19, 2016 | Todd J. Gillman

Ted Cruz's image among Republicans had plummeted to a personal low by the Indiana primary — the defeat that forced him from the GOP presidential contest.

But he may wish for those heady days of May now...

Potential GOP rivals are probing for weakness ahead of Cruz's bid for a second term in 2018. That includes House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul of Austin. The former federal prosecutor is the second wealthiest member of the U.S. House, with access to a family fortune topping $100 million, though he has no obvious base of support to overcome the tea partyers still plenty in thrall of Cruz.

Dryly assessing Cruz's tenure in the Senate, McCaul said Wednesday that he'd "spent a lot of time running for president..."

For 14 months, Cruz spent precious little time in Texas as he stoked the flames of his White House ambitions.

McCaul is an immigration patriot, unlike lip-service border fake Ted Cruz.
McCaul is the one who exposed the fact that 300 Somali Al-Shabaab terrorists entered the U.S. border -- and that Obama tried to cover it up.

Cruz is a fraud. The article means little as Cruz is much worse.

Ted seems incapable of honesty and integrity.

Ted Cruz puts a con job into his "conservatism". He has nothing for me and I have nothing for him.

I can only trust Ted Cruz to be Ted Cruz, so it's time for young Ted to go far, far away from me and mine.

I don't need a con man, but if I ever do, his name's on the Who's Who list of people to call.

I can and I will vote for Cruz in a second. Also I will vote for Trump in a second. Cruz not endorsing Trump didn’t bother me in the least, I don’t vote for people based on someones recommendation, I would say that at least 90 % of Cruz supporters will vote for Trump. I think this article is meant to divide Cruz/Trump supporters, the DMN knows that.

Amen! Preach it, Brother.

However, I don’t think his arrogance and pride would allow him to support Trump even 5%, much less 100%. He cooked his goose; it’s over for him!

He offered no explanation

Of course he did and if you weren't a Trumpanoid you would have believed him. </s>

Perry is the best bet.

Better known here as La Raza Rick. So much for the long memories of Freepers.

I'm sorry to say this because he was right on so many issues, but it is what it is.

There is a difference in saying the right things and doing the right things.

I suppose in this world of enlightenment, either Rick Perry or Ted Cruz is a slight better than LBJ... Texas does NOT have a recent history of producing men or women of leadership... and ethics... Even the ‘compassionate’ conservative told US he worked well with liberals... we just could NOT comprehend just how well he worked with liberals... And they say do not mess with Texas... funny thing about Texas values.... it was a Texas sodomy case that gave us same sex marriage and now where exactly did ‘roe v wade’ originate???????

Agree. He would do much better in DC.

Maybe he could get that Trans Texas Corridor built from the Senate? </s>

Big talk from a state that ratifies whoever the biggest GOP-E candidate is for president, and who can’t rein in a few out-of-control pissant county DAs.

Personally I resent the 'red' for right and 'blue' for liberal coloration. However, some places live in a cocoon and think the 'bad' stuff is somebody else fault. I remember LBJ and he was as dirty as any politician could possibly be... Actually LBJ placed this nation under the worst possible predicament we could have possibly gone during the sixties. These politicians the majority follow expose the base of human nature. And we fought a war to end 'slavery' and look were we are now. Tax payers are the new slaves. And the lords and ladies of legislation use US to pay off their mega donors... every day of their legislative workings. This includes Ted Cruz as well... He is bjclintonand Hillry and LBJ in the making. Rick Perry obviously cannot make a living except off the tax payers.

“Good. Rick Perry’s gonna take that seat, and Cruz will be selling National Review cruises.”

Rick Perry is more of a Trump supporter than Ted Cruz is. So IMHO that would be a step in the right direction.

Back in March 2016 Cruz had some comments on the Pledge...

Cruz reaffirms pledge to support GOP nominee, even if Trump

By Katie Glueck

BALLWIN, Mo.—While Ted Cruz suggested on Friday night that Donald Trump’s campaign
“affirmatively encourages violence,” he said on Saturday that he would still support
Trump if the New Yorker wins the GOP nomination.

“My answer is the same,” Cruz told reporters here at a suburban St. Louis high
school. “I committed at the outset, I will support the Republican nominee, whoever it is.”

“Ted Cruz is going to be the nominee,” interjected Carly Fiorina, a former GOP
presidential candidate who is now backing Cruz.

But pressed again on whether Cruz stands by his decision to back Trump if he is
the nominee, he continued: “I will support the Republican nominee, but let me be
clear: Carly’s exactly right. We are going to beat Donald Trump.”

He went on to argue that he is within striking distance of Trump, separated by
only 100 or so delegates, and to tear into Trump’s record.
