TRUMP JUST PUT THE FEAR IN EVERY CONGRESSMAN WITH 1 EPIC PROMISE TO AMERICA
CONSERVATIVE TRIBUNE BLOG ^ | AUGUST 19, 2016 AT 1:45PM | BY: WILMOT PROVISO

For many establishment congressmen of both parties, being elected isn’t a chance to make a difference in the political life of America. It’s a sinecure that allows them to become fat off of special interest money and speaking fees.

Americans of all stripes are frustrated with this attitude, which is part of the reason why anti-establishment Donald Trump got the Republican nomination.

Now, Trump has made a huge move to end congressional sinecures and the politicos who occupy them. According to Associated Press, Trump told an audience in North Carolina that he would look into term limits for Congress if he were elected president.

Trump made the remarks Thursday afternoon while speaking before a group of local law enforcement officers in the swing state. A questioner asked the Republican nominee about it and said he wanted to “get these bums out.”

Trump gave him plenty to look forward to. He told the audience member that, “(w)e’re going to take a very serious look” at establishing term limits.

While it would take a constitutional amendment to accomplish, make no mistake — establishing term limits would arguably be the biggest accomplishment of any president since World War II.

Part of the mess we’re in as a country — especially in terms of debt, deficit and political pusillanimity — has to do with establishment politicians who hang around Washington for half a century or more.

One rarely (if ever) does this because they’re fighting for their constituents. They’re addicted to power and all that comes with it. This power, unfortunately, is often wielded at our expense, particularly when it comes to government spending.

The American Bar Association agrees with you. The people behind the Convention of the States movement disagree.

The constitution is entirely silent on who can be a representative of the states to a convention of the states. The states make the rules on that. Check Amendment 10.

The people behind the COS movement believe that Article II Section 6 applies, not the 10th Amendment. You can take it up with them. Check their website.

No. Arkansas tried that 25 years ago, and the US Supreme Court shot it down.

Who is saying he has anything else, or that he should use any other tool to accomplish it?

A surprising number of people on this thread don’t understand that a constitutional amendment is required, and an equally surprising number of people on this thread think that the president has a tool other than the bully pulpit to accomplish it.

I know that. Let’s get the amendment. The people on the Hill need to be reminded that they work for us, not us for them.

I agree. President Trump can use the bully pulpit. And he can work behind the scenes as Lincoln did in getting the 13th Amendment pushed past a reluctant Congress.

Exactly right, and the more he reveals of his proposed agenda the more paranoid the entrenched career insiders on Capitol Hill are becoming.

While a great pipedream, Congress will never do this to itself, period. And no president can ever force such an interventional law on a member of Congress, short of being a real dictator!

This can and will only ever be done through a Constitutional ‘Convention of the States’ being in agreement.

While convening the ‘Convention of the States’, we should also address and include other government corruption.

Any such effort by a ‘Convention of the States’ should include pegging the pay of Congressmen, President, and SCOTUS, to that of the pay of an agreed upon boundary of pay for military officers.

The ‘Convention of the States’ should punitively and prejudicially make it Constitutionally illegal for ANY member of Congress, family member, or Other legal entity (Trust/Foundation) to financially benefit from any relationship with any corporation or legal entity, period! Foreign OR Domestic!

The new Constitutional Law should REQUIRE Impeachment and Jail, for any Congressmen, Executive Officer, or member of the SCOTUS, and jail and fines for any corporation or legal entity attempting to establish any such transaction/transfer of money OR value!

The ‘Convention of the States’, should also include a new Constitutional REQUIREMTENT of an annual review by Congress, which would REQUIRE alignment of SCOTUS rulings with both “Written” and “Original Intent” of US Constitutional Law, and lawfully REQUIRING automatic removal FOR Citing ANY Foreign (International) court or non-government law, (UN)!! Any such majority rulings already made which are rooted in any foreign law should be immediately and retroactively thrown out!

This should be lawfully defined as SEDITION period!

We could add several other infractions which need to be dealt with, such as ‘Tort Reform’, but will stop for now. There is a lot more we could throw in here!

In the end however, no law can deal with the “unrestrained immorality” of an individual citizen or member of government!

We truly need an Act of God in the hearts of the individuals comprising our society!

I do not know. It’s entirely possible it’s exclusively in the purview of state legislators.

That would be a great start. The bigger question is how to dislodge the traitors who dwell in the bowels of the bureaucracies. Their machinations extend far beyond the tenure of any elected officials.

You’d have to fix the civil service laws to make more positions political appointees.

I thought so too...and I’m tired of hearing black people aren’t supporting Trump....they are but the media won’t say so of course because they don’t want to see any more “leakage” from the support she’s always counted on from them.

This movement in our country is crossing all races....and it’s the first ever Presidential race I’ve seen where the ‘facts’ of how badly the black population have been treated by the Demorats is FINALLY reaching them....and I’m very happy about that. Before it was always squashed.....now the truth is being heard and they’re more than ready for it!

Further to see it come alive in the younger black males is as exciting as seeing Trump run.....I think they identify with the Trump and like him just as he is....perhaps the father figure so many have had abandon them.

You want Congress to limit the number of terms they can have?

Good luck with that.
