Idea of a Trump White House leaves Germany angry and anxious (barf)
CNBC ^ | 08/18/2016 | Elizabeth Schulze | Everett Rosenfeld

Eight years ago, a U.S. presidential candidate named Barack Obama captivated hundreds of thousands of cheering supporters at Berlin’s iconic Brandenburg Gate with a promise to tear down walls between races and nations.

Over the last year, however, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has provoked ire from German quarters after repeatedly disparaging the country.

On Monday, Trump sought to insult Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by comparing her to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, saying incorrectly that crime had skyrocketed under Germany’s refugee policies. Those comments, and others, have left Germans — from the highest pinnacles of business to the grungiest parks — transfixed on the U.S. presidential election.

Unlike in 2008, many report confusion and fear in the face of a candidate who vows to build a wall and shut out allies if he wins the White House in November. …

Of course, the fear that the average Hans or Heidi has regarding Trump (or any conservative, even “ino”) has nothing to do with the way that he is portrayed in the media.

18 August: In an article about Trump getting security briefings, more ink is spent referring to the democrats claiming he should not get them then to Trump himself. The campaign and Obama both get to bash Trump without response. Of course, any mention of Hillary’s questionable continued access to such information was not even hinted at.

17 August: In an article about early voting - Trump is declared as disorganized. Third parties and the Hillary campaign are questioned. The Trump campaign is not given a chance to respond. Of course - Hillary’s prowess and organisation are praised, and even questionable GOTV actions are uncritically mentioned.

17 August: In an article regarding Trumps new Advisors (Bannon und Conway) - the lead in was “The US Candidate for President rebuilds his Campaign Team again. Among them, an advisor to dictators and a media mogul.”

17 August: Rubio’s refusal to campaign for Trump is reported on in a postive way.

15 August: “Trumps 3 Point Plan in the War against ISIS” - “Behind in the polls, Trump drafts a determined plan against the Islamic State. Many details remain unadressed.

In Youngstown Ohio on Monday, the nationwide, and in several states, severly embattered Presidential Candidate Donald Trump tried to revive his saging campaign with a speach against islamic terrorism and especially against the terror-militia Islamic State.”
... a bit of factual reporting - last paragraph
“Whether the candidate can turn his campaign around and gain in popularity with his speech which he read from a teleprompter is still to be shown. After earlier serious speeches Trump has always managed to make negative headlines with verbal blunders.”

15 August: “Did Ukrainian Millions go to Trump’s Manager?”
“Donald Trump’s campaign manager has come under suspicion that he took illicit money from a pro-russian party in the Ukraine.”

13 August: “Trump is dangerous and jumpy”
“Balancing act for Psychologists and Psychiatrists: They are prohibited from warning about the danger a candidate may pose. Some do not want to remain silent.

A Narcissist, a sociopath without self control and without compassion ...”

It just gets worse after that

FU Germany

Roger that. With the sorry history of that country, we are supposed to give a rat's ass what they think about anything? I don't think so.

German friends of mine are frightened to go out alone and avoid certain areas like the plague. Muslims are demanding outrageous things like the interdiction to serve beer in German restaurants. The steam is building.....................
and I don’t believe the majority of Germans still supplort Merkel, from what I hear.

This here is an American election. I would say FU to any foreign entity that tries to involve itself in our election in any capacity.

It no doubt will surprise many to read this, but I spend much of my time in conversation with my neighbors here in Germany defending Donald Trump. One must understand that the aversion to Donald Trump is not entirely specific to Trump himself, Germans are conditioned by the media here to regard Republicans as troglodytes. They were to a man convinced the George Bush was mentally deficient. They were conditioned to believe that Barack Obama was the second coming and supported giving him a Nobel Peace Prize before he accomplished anything whatsoever and, lucky for him, before he had done the damage he was determined to do.

I try to explain to the Germans that the impulse that brings Donald Trump to favor in America is essentially the same impulse that motivated the British vote for the Brixit. But they do not understand the motivation for Brixit either. Don't forget, Germany dominates the European Union so Germans do not feel nearly as disenfranchised as did the British voters. If they do not understand the motivation for Brixit they do not understand the motivation for Donald Trump. When one tries to connect the infusion of refugees with loss of sovereignty, it is a new concept.

It has been easy for the German press to caricature Donald Trump is a fascist and a Philistine simply by exaggerating his gaffes because there is virtually no contrary point of view presented here.

Believe me, I fight valiantly for Donald Trump in these discussions.

When it comes to political ignorance there is not a whole lot of difference between the public on either side of the pond or world wide as far as that goes. Eventually and inevitably leading to a fallout of some sort. Then the human race picks up the pieces and swears to do better next time but conveniently forgets about history and what got them in to trouble in the first place. Humans in general are slow learners. But within the scope of eternity, what’s the rush?

Gee, one wonders at the vast extent of CNBC's ground information network that can gather this breadth of sentiment.

Perchance they also got a similar indication about how regular groundlings and aerie perched Germans think about all the Islamic Terrorists they are importing as refugees?

What I think this vast "network" of information gatherers really comprises is one CONUS based keyboard ass-sitter emailing another keyboard ass-sitter in Germany and asking Herr/Fraulein Comrade to confirm their made up BS - all via email.

If Germany continues to have "issues" with immigrants, then I'm sure Trump will be able to get along with the new chancellor after the next election, if they smarten up and vote for AfD, headed by Frauke Petry
