Breaking Poll: Rick Perry Leads Ted Cruz by 9 Points in Texas Senate Race
the gateway pundt ^ | 8/18/16 | Jim Hoft

Senator Cruz stunned conservatives when he refused to endorse Donald Trump at the RNC Convention in Cleveland. This came after Cruz was thumped in the GOP primary race. Perry leads Cruz in a senate primary matchup 46% to 37%.

The Texas Tribune reported:

A new poll suggests there is at least one fellow Republican who could unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018: Rick Perry.

The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

Wow. Cruz might turn it around by going out & campaigning with Trump.

That would get them both attention.

“I’d love to see Trump fly down there and endorse him...”

I’d pay money to see that!

He would have been sitting pretty if he had not joined with the #AlwaysHillary freaks and not used his convention speech to act like a jackass.

“We need Cruz in the senate.”

He should have thought of that before he got cozy with the GOPe.

Personally, I’d still prefer Cruz to Perry. Perry would end up being indistinguishable from Cornyn.

The problem is that many of them will run for reelection or even higher office -- and win.

Their supporters think the other guys are the problem, not their guy.

“Cruz will win Texas with no problem...”

You really think we’re going to forget everything we’ve learned and observed about Ted Cruz two years from now?

That’s a mighty unkindly way to think about your fellow Texans, my friend.

Cruz only got 43.76% of the TX Republican presidential primary votes. That means 56.24% preferred someone else.

I wouldn’t want a senator who can’t keep a pledge.

Plus, he’ll work tirelessly to oppose Trump on any issue just because of his ego at this point.

He attempted to align with the GOPe at the end and sold his soul.

If he were to win another election, he will have been a bought and paid for senator with no integrity.

I didn’t think Texas folks usually tolerated such things.

I am a Texas voter, and I would vote for Perry over Cruz in the Republican primary. Just as an FYI, I did vote for Cruz in the Texas Republican presidential primary. I regret that vote. His behavior since has been sickening. I sincerely apologize for that vote. Had I known how he would behave afterwards, I would not have voted for Cruz for dog catcher, let alone presidential nominee of the Republican party.

Cruz lit himself on fire at the convention .Self inflicted political suicide. Maybe he can run for something in his native Canada?

“I’d still prefer Cruz to Perry.”

That’s like saying you’d prefer death by army ants, over being burned at the stake.

Not much of a choice, really.
