Survival Expert James Rawles Warns: “There’s Going To Be A Massive Run On Firearms… Bigger Than (TR)
SHTF Plan ^ | August 16, 2016 | Mac Slavo

James Wesley Rawles is a former intelligence officer of the United States Army, prolific author and one of the top survival experts in the world. In his best-selling book series Patriots he paints a terrifying picture of a post-collapse America where food is scarce, currency is worthless, law and order have broken down, and survival is a daily struggle. It’s a fictional tale, of course, but one that is grounded in real-world possibilities.

In his latest interview with SGT Report, the SurvivalBlog.com founder breaks down the probability of such a scenario and explains that should it come to pass, where hyperinflation destroys our currency or a world war ravages America, the most important thing to have in your possession will be essential tangible assets.

Further, Rawles notes that as we get closer to the possibility of a Hillary Clinton Presidency, we may soon see panic buying of firearms, ammunition and gun-related accessories.

Venezuela is a microcosm of a centrally planned government and currency run amok… and we need to learn from their example.

If you notice the things that people are clamoring for are tangibles… they’re looking for food and they’re looking for currencies that are inflation proof and that usually means precious metals.

So if we’re going to learn anything from Venezuela it’s tangibles, tangibles, tangibles.

…Wake up… watch what’s happening in Venezuela… you need to get your beans, bullets and band aids squared away… Those tangible items are going to be what pulls your family through the hard times ahead. And regardless of what happens to currencies, if you have a honest one year supply of food, preferably two years, and a good core position in physical precious metals that you hold at home… hidden… not in

I would learn to reload ammo and get some supplies while you’re going down the list because one of the first things to become scarce will be ammo.

Make sure that those leaves are NOT poison ivy, poison oak or poison sumac.

BTW, would precious gem jewelry be of any worth?

My wife is getting a pistol soon and I’m applying for my LTC, otherwise we are well stocked and still gathering. Got another .50 can to fill.

Not really. The best things are what you take for granted. Disposable lighters would be huge. Alcohol and tobacco, rolling papers, etc.

There’s some good interviews with survivors of the Bosnian conflict that are worth reading.

I really don’t understand people stocking up on gold, how is anyone going to hang onto it? Firearms and ammo, only, make sense. Some long term food, and mobile shelter.

Mr. mm came across this guy’s filters while doing a project for work. They had the water tested that ran through them and they work very well so we got one for our home.

They are effective and MUCH cheaper than most out there, especially the counter top , pyramid scheme distributors, who often charge hundreds or thousands of dollars for theirs.

Betcha coffee would be worth its weight in gold.

I’ve taken to storing things I don’t want to deteriorate in canning jars. I have a food saver sealer, which comes with attachments to suck the air out of canning jars. They are then vacuum sealed/hermetically sealed.

Keeps bugs, rodents, moisture, and oxygen out.

Even if one jar got bugs or went bad, it would not contaminate everything else.

“Go tribal rather than solo.”

A small to medium sized town that is a cohesive community and 50 to 100 miles from a large city would be good. By the time the feral population in the city realize they are starving they’ll be out of gasoline and they won’t walk that far.

A small to medium sized town will have the ability to engage in a natural economy (barter) and form a cooperative militia for defense. Alternately.......... Guam

Agree. If the shtf, ferals won’t dare enter the smaller towns that ring the big cities.

I think it depends some on how big the city.

There are some smaller cities here in CNY that have a black population in them but surrounding them is farm country pretty quickly and LOTS of hunters and gun ownership.

Another factor in some places, Syracuse comes to mind, is the reservation south of the city, right on the border. It’s fairly close to the south side and I can’t imagine that the natives would warmly welcome feral blacks, much less anyone else into their nation.

And there are many reservations here in Upstate NY but I think that the Onondaga one is the closest to a city of any significant size.

And should the SHTF scenario happen during the winter, many who try to abandon the cities will die of exposure. When I see how so many people these days dress so causally in the dead of winter, not realizing that exposure can take them in short order, there are going to be many besides the feral population who just don’t make it for that reason alone.

When the American economy collapses so does the rest of the world so gold and silver will be useless. A fifth of anything will get you more bargaining wise.

Get one of these.

https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000014865-5-Gallon-Solar-Shower/dp/B0009PUT20

I Have the 2½ gallon size, a dollar at a yard sale, it works great and is plenty water for a shower, including washing hair. Trick is to get wet, turn water off and shower, then rinse. Left in the sun in 90° weather it will get too hot, you’ll have to add cold water.

A 5 gallon bucket also works well, if you can heat water. Cut a hole in the bottom and put in a short pipe or PVC, attach a shower head and ¼ turn valve, a 5 gallon bucket holds enough water for 2 people to shower. Use rubber gaskets, silicone to seal if necessary. We used one for about 10 years when I lived in central Texas. No electricity or running water, 55 gallon barrel (plastic) outside the kitchen window with a pipe and faucet for water, brought in from town in 5 gallon jugs daily. Had permission to get water from a couple of places.

I’m unemployed, can’t afford much, but have started to stock up on seeds. Need a good pellet rifle, have 2 but both crap and only one works. I’d love to run across an old Benjamin...I could rebuild it without a lot of trouble.

Which reminds me, I guess I need to get some fishing line, I live 100 yards from a good lake. Any extra fishing line should be stored in a plastic bag, and in the dark. Sunlight and chemicals in the atmosphere will cause it to gradually break down a weaken if stored for years. Already have plenty baits, probably need to check and see if I Have any hooks though. I haven’t fished in 16 tears, got burned out on it. Living here right by a lake, I was out in a boat daily for 10 years, got tired of it. Good thing is, I know how to pull a bass out of the lake...I caught dozens in the 3 to 5lb range. Also a good cook...

What else...

Better get used to the idea of an outhouse, running water will be a thing of the past, that means indoor pluming will be useless.

Might also be a good idea to build a permanent outdoor BBQ too, out of fire brick if you can get some. Cooking inside on 100° summer days sucks. Find some pecan or hickory trees, walnut might work too, and save any and all limbs that fall on windy days. Use those only for the cooking fire. We had a large hickory 50 yards from the house and a couple more in the woods, they kept us supplied with cooking wood.

A cold frame for starting garden plants is good too. I dug a hole a foot deep the size of 2 windows, had some used wood frame windows sitting around. Lined it with bricks, bottom and sides, built a wood frame facing south, with about a 10°tilt at top, attached windows to the top with hinges. Keeps plants from freezing at night, prop one or both windows open during the day, depending on temp, close it about 2 hours before dark for heat to build up. Seedlings will love it. I kept a spray bottle full of water in there too. Started with 3 inch tomato plants before last frost, by planting time I had foot tall plants ready to go.

Build a solar food dehydrator.

http://www.offthegridnews.com/how-to-2/how-to-build-a-solar-food-dehydrator/

We have a couple of electric ones, but I’ll probably be building a solar one in the not too distant future. I think I have the glass, know I have the wood.

Kerosene lamps. Kerosene is not easy to find and not cheap, but I have a couple of gallons stored, and 3 or 4 old kerosene lamps. As long as fuel holds up, I can save the candles.

Consider some heavy black drapes. When things get bad, you don’t want wandering strangers to see your lights on at night. Can’t think of a better way to invite the riff raff over at 11PM...

I’ve been seriously thinking about a small platform in a tree, if I have a little warning it would be a good sniper spot, and an elevated lookout perch is always better than a ground based one. I would have to paint that bright orange ladder though...and how about a small platform on the back side of your roof for the same reason. A roof with a 7 to 12 pitch is really difficult to stand or walk on, anything over 5 to 12 isn’t easy, and a simple 4 foot square platform might be a good spot and unexpected, with a better view. Always on the back side of the house out of view from any road. Idea is to make nothing but the top of your head visible to anyone approaching.

I just started looking up info on how to make a bow string, already have 2 recurves and just got a crossbow, started looking at prices for a crossbow string and decided it was time to learn how to make my own. That reminds me I don’t have enough arrows either...

Rawles has been predicting the end of the world for the past 20 years.

It’s made him a wealthy man.

Is this really different than 19th century evangelists?

The argument is that if the economy goes belly up the value of money will go away. Gold and silver are for AFTER. It is a store of value; an insurance policy.

A total collapse is not likely. A depression and/or major war is.

Hillary’s minions naively believe that they will be able to
ban guns like they did in Australia and that gun owners will just line up like sheep to turn in their guns.
