The burning buildings, smashed police cars and scuffles between police officers and angry protesters on Milwaukee’s north side over the weekend might have seemed like a spontaneous eruption.
But for many in the city’s marginalized black community, it was an explosive release decades in the making.
Milwaukee is one of the United States’ most segregated cities, where black men are incarcerated or unemployed at some of the highest rates in the country, and where the difference in poverty between black and white residents is about one and a half times the national average. There are barren lots and worn-down homes all over the predominantly black north side, while mostly white crowds traffic through the restaurants and boutiques downtown, or inhabit the glossy lakefront high rises.
Add to that the disrespect that many black people say the police show them, and many of Milwaukee’s African-American residents are unsurprised by the volatile response after a police officer fatally shot a black man on Saturday — even though, as it turns out, the officer also was black.
“This isn’t just, ‘Oh, my gosh, all of a sudden this happened,’” said Sharlen Moore, 39, who lives in Sherman Park, the mostly African-American neighborhood where the shooting and unrest occurred. “It’s a series of things that has happened over a period of time. And right now you shake a soda bottle and you open the top and it explodes, and this is what it is.”
Milwaukee, a city of nearly 600,000, joins other embattled parts of the country like Baltimore and Ferguson, Mo., where police killings did not so much draw outrage for the deaths alone, but for the systemic problems that have so many black people feeling hopeless.

Shame on the NYT for even writing that. They love seeing upheaval.
Shunning education and social norms, illiterate and unmotivated. Dependent on Gubbmint for basic needs. Glorifying criminal and thug behavior. Breeding like animals and consuming illegal drugs.
There's plenty of "marginalization" going on all right.
Racial violence is made every day by dumb black thugs who would rather burn something down than work.
According to some, blacks are never responsible for anything they do.
Editorials have become front page news.

Milwaukee is yet another city run by demodummies.....We are seeing an example of a smaller Detroit. IF the Blacks want to improve their lot in life, “Dump the Demodummies” who they elect time after time after time. They will NEVER learn and it’s too hard to give up all that “free sh#t”.
According to some, they can't be racist either.
They are now protecting the drug gang thugs and thier criminal operations under the guise of racial inequality and racial tentions
Before they try tp blame Bush or Trump or the GOP..Milwaukee has been a Democratic stronghold for more than a century at the federal level. At the local level, Socialists frequently won the mayorship and (for briefer periods) other city and county offices during much of the first sixty years of the 20th century.

Bet they dress in prison chic, have no education and speak ebonics which belies their limited intelligence.

These fools don’t even understand what that word means.
And how on Earth were they? Because people saw trash acting like trash and wanted to have nothing to do with them?
The professional community agitator in the White Hut engineered Milwaukee just like he engineered Ferguson. This is what he meant when he told the hired Ferguson protesters to “stay the course.” The end game is martial law and a suspended presidential election.
The NYT seems to have skipped a rather illuminating fact.........The last Republican mayor of Milwaukee was in 1908. Every mayor since has been a DEMOCRAT with the exception of three SOCIALISTS.
The biggest sin as far as America’s indigenous urban peoples are concerned is to “act white.”
It’s really just a product of the growing proportion of the community that is black. At some point you reach a critical mass.
