I’m pretty sure I was the first to coin TDS. I had never heard anyone else say it. I did so right off the bat because it had the potential to be worse than Bush Derangement Syndrome, but no one ever used BDS back then. You’re welcome.

I got into an argument with a guy who actually did have a clinical Bush Derangement Syndrome.

I do mean this literally, based on that story.

The pertinent details are that he was against the Iraq invasion and part of his complaint was that we were “taking” their oil.

I pointed out that we were actually paying for Iraqi oil at the time.

His reply was a hysterical shout of “What’s the difference!?!”

That right there clinches it. If I go into a store and “take” a loaf of bread, I get arrested. If I “pay” for it I don’t.

The guy was so freaked over Bush he could no longer distinguish between right and wrong - taking and paying for.

And what’s part of the legal argument to prove insanity in court? The inability to distinguish right from wrong.

When it came to Bush, the guy was legally insane, so “derangement syndrome” is clinically correct in his case.

The common thread - DERANGEMENT. Liberalism a mental disorder indeed.

The projection of a culture’s dark side onto ‘other’ is scapegoating. The need for scapegoats arises when people refuse to accept personal responsibility for their own sins. In this light what the author is saying is that America, like Muslim nations where victims of rape are routinely stoned to death because rapists refuse to accept responsibility for the crimes they commit, is a scapegoating culture.

It’s hysteria, prompted by the thought that leftists might lose their grip on power.

From above, “a belief that anything the candidate says is true;” I would correct to “A belief that everything said against a politician is true”

Thus, my niece (northeast liberal, just out of college as you may imagine) believes evreything said against Trump is true, because she WANTS to believe eerything negative, every slur or democrat lie is “true” .

In that way, all of her prejudices (against white, male, conservative, capitalist, christians) remain “True” and affirmed. But the lies concealing Holy Hillary’s evil and corruption and incompetance must be true. Her propaganda must be true. Her ABCNNBCNS explanations and excuses MUST be “true”

After all, they are repeating the fairy tale she WANTS to believe.

I’ve been using the phrase ‘TDS’ for several months now and can attest to its reality. I know a man who is on the ACLU board of directors and personally witnessed an outburst of TDS from him.
