Parents sue when third-grade honors students are not promoted to fourth grade
The Washington Post ^ | August 12, 2016 | Valerie Strauss

This belongs in the you-can’t-make-up-this-stuff category:

In Florida (you knew it was Florida, didn’t you?), some third-graders — including honor students — are being forced to retake third grade because their parents decided to opt them out of the state’s mandated standardized reading test this past spring.

An undetermined number of third-graders who refused to take the Florida Standards Assessment in reading have been barred from moving to fourth grade in some counties. A lawsuit filed by parents against state education officials as well as school boards in seven Florida counties says counties are interpreting the state’s third-grade retention law so differently that the process has become unfair. Test participation, therefore, is more important than student class academic achievement.

It’s past time that parents take their children out of the corrupt government indoctrination centers at every level. In this case, it’s REALLY “for the children.” The main goal of government schools is to stamp out any trace of individualism in our youth, so they become the docile worker bees, filling the coffers of their masters in the government with most of their paychecks. That is not the “land of the free and the home of the brave” envisioned by the Founders.

Any employer knows that grades, diplomas, and degrees are meaningless; illiterate graduates have no role in this economy, so the government just forces companies to hire them under threat of lawsuits. Social promotion has been exposed, and business reacted accordingly; passing these inadequate students does them no favors. They just end up with a false sense of worth, followed by frustration when nobody has any use for them...

Funny how only AFTER we had Marxist”standardized testing” (one size fits all—top down) that we have a bunch of illeterates who are so extremely DUMB and devoid of any Common Sense and any self-reliance. They also are devoid of virtue and “think” killing babies and sodomizing each other is a Natural Right from God.

We need to QUIT THE TESTING—go back to LOCAL controls and TEACHERS having autonomy like before Dewey. If they can’t tell how much their students “know”, the parents should be able to run them out of town like they did prior to Dewey and the destruction of parent’s control over education of their OWN children.

Hint: Aristotle (father of logic) stated that without Virtue there is no Freedom possible and Dostoevsky stated that “Without God, everything is permissible”-—that means incest, bestiality and sodomizing others like what todays graduates are indulging in with more frequency (because that is what they are learning in skools today-—Vice is Virtue.)

All UNESCO’s today’s “tests” are to force children into a Marxist, Neo-Freudian (anti-Christian, anti-Western Civ) worldview where “thinking critically” (reason and logic) will be destroyed. The tests are designed with psychological damaging “questions” which destroy Reason and Logic and embed cognitive dissonance-—which all Common Core curricula now does permanently.

All the “testing” will give the psychopathic sodomites (who designed the “testing”), the ability to assess the psychology and morality of the children—who are going to be their human-killing drones for the future. They target children who have some measure of morality—to destroy all morality (so they are capable of being in their SS army and will participate in the NWO Fema camps).

Any rational, moral person would NEVER allow government “skools” to “educate” their children. Prussian artificial indoctrination systems are why we have evil zombies (dumb, ignorant, inhumane “bots”) graduating from colleges today. After years of the brainwashing and removal from Reality, understanding Reality and being Self Reliant is impossible—real life human interaction wasn’t embedded inside the Natural Family (mom/dad/paradigm) where the REAL “education” and understanding of Truth and Self and all relationships is embedded into the subconscious, only self-reliance and individualism is embedded along with Free Will inside the moral Natural Family ONLYl.

John Dewey, the “Father of American Modern Education, signed the Humanist Manifesto and was a communist. Do you really “think” the curricula (designed by the likes of him and Billy Ayers-types) will educate when Socrates knew 2400 years ago that the State will never educate, it will just make slaves for the State.

Google Fichte, 1810 and “snow is black” quote. ALL curricula now is designed to intentionally destroy Free Will and make children so irrational they actually believe Slavery is Freedom, Boys are Girls and Up is Down.
The “Tests” make sure the “kids” mastered the lessons of insanity.

This is for the NWO-—AI. There can be no critically thinking people-—all of Western Civ has to be vilified and erased in the minds of children to get Fichte’s “happy slaves of the State (and corporations).

There is rampant cheating on the tests by teachers and administrators, so the results of comparing schools are highly suspect. To see that an inner city school achieves the same or even better scores than nearby suburban schools should send up red flags everywhere.

If the purpose of such testing is to FORCE homeschoolers to knuckle under to Common Core then the testing is constitutionally suspect. SCOTUS ruled 7-2 in the 1920s (Pearce vs. Society of Sisters) that education was uniquely the province of the parents and that only basic education, (reading, writing and 'rithmetic and a little bit more) could be required by the gummint.

Parents willing to take responsibility for the education of their own kids ought not to be required to teach Common Core propaganda.

Standardized tests have their place, but the question at the core of the issue is who is developing the standards?

High school students taking the ACT or SAT in order to gain admittance to a college and increase their financial aid package often must answer questions the way the testing firms want, rather than according to their what they have learned from their families or from their faith. Not so much in Math and Language, but once they are tested in the sciences, the liberal bias really comes out.

Just look at the textbooks. Evolution over creation, big government over personal responsibility, green energy over the industrialized revolution....

Conservative minded students must suppress their knowledge and beliefs to “succeed” at the left’s game.

When parents who really are in control of their child’s education confront the school boards and refuse standardized tests as a measure of the kids progress, the all controlling powers, offended that someone would challenge their “authority”, point to some obscure fine print and attempt to make a student repeat 3rd grade.

Yeah. I have also seen “honor students” who were illiterate.

Testing isn’t perfect. Class grades aren’t perfect.

This test case will be interesting

Read my post 65. All the “testing” is embedded with psychologically-damaging material-—to make sure children “mastered” their anti-Christian, anti-Western Civ lesson.

Testing is crucial to the psychopathic sodomites who designed the curricula to make sure the “lessons” are sinking into all the little children’s heads. They need to TARGET those who score low-—with more psychollogically-laden “lessons” which will destroy all virtue formation in that children and destroy the ability to think critically.

It is all planned-—200 years ago by the Germans using the Prussian system of mass indoctrination and Fichte’s little wet dream where all children will end up incapable of thinking critically, because they will be so dumb and ignorant they will actually believe Slavery is Freedom and Vice is Virtue and God is Dead. They are able to do this through TV (artificial realities which shut down the integration of the brain) and by removal of children from their mother and father (Natural Family) where all Common Sense and Free Will/Individuality is embedded-—otherwise there is only irrationality and “group-think” possible.

The only reason our country is collapsing is because parents allow their children to be programmed and conditioned into dependency by evil, sadistic, psychopaths who are malthusians and satanists..

I am a few years past 50 and we didn’t have social promotion either. I remember in third grade, which was a big deal because it meant moving up to the bigger school down the street, our home room teacher called each students name and had them line up on the perimeter of the classroom in that order. Then she walked down the line and at a certain point used her forearm to cut the line and announced that everyone to the right would be going on to the fourth grade and those to the left would be repeating the third grade. Very public humiliation. Even then I thought that was harsh the way she did that but everyone of us kids were real clear that you earned your promotion (or you didn’t).

It’s unfortunate that Common Core and testing have become synonymous in some people’s minds. Common Core is bad for many reasons. Testing is necessary.

May I quote George Bush at this point in time? “If you don’t care about something, why measure it?” He learned that precept in business school, and it applies to education as well.

No Child Left Behind at least has the intention of helping the poorest-performing students. Common Core means everyone thinks the same thing.

“Stack up against?” Common core is nothing more than a data mining grab. . . .womb to the tomb information kept in a cloud. Technology coordinators in the districts were instrumental in the system. Parents, who are really concerned about their children’s success in school should already know how they are doing. The common core has done nothing but desecrate our education system. Its co-founder even admits that the common core was to level the playing field for the illiterate. Do the search! Also it serves as a money grab for test publishers not to mention Federal control over local school districts.

Wow! That was quite the post, BlackElk.

Not all States allow teachers’ unions; not the big kind of liberal big city and Jersey kind of unions at any rate.

All public teachers and schools are not communistic and selfish as you described some are. It depends on the State, the District, the school administration, the teachers’ committments to excellence, PLUS HOW THE PARENTS ARE RAISING THEIR CHILDREN AWAY FROM SCHOOL.

One size doesn’t fit all, as your brush strokes seemed to have painted.

The school districts can do as they please all over the country, but they lose federal dollars if they go their own way.

Your comment is directed to a whole big large grey area between pure white and black.

Depends on the State Superintendent of Education and the political leanings of any given District's Board of Trustees and the school administrations. A lot can be done without kowtowing to DC.

There are Tons of ways to find out how well a child reads in the classroom. There are decoding tests and comprehension worksheets (read a passage and answer questions).

There doesn't need to be such an emphasis on the government standardized testing.

Some districts have placed such importance on the testing that teachers are teaching only to the tests because they're being evaluated on the scores.
