With the first day of school looming, Texas will go to court on Friday and begin pressing its argument that the Obama administration strayed outside the law by ordering public schools to accommodate transgender students.
In a case expected to come down to the distinction between sex and gender identity, the states lawsuit against the federal government is set for its first hearing Friday morning in Fort Worth, where U.S. District Court Judge Reed OConnor will hear arguments over Texas request for a preliminary injunction. Texas, joined by 10 other states, in May sued the Department of Education over the guidelines, which instruct schools not to discriminate against transgender students.
Discrimination against transgender students violates Title IX, a federal statute prohibiting discrimination based on sex at institutions that receive federal funding, the administration said when it issued the guidelines in early May.

Naw Tex. Just tell the Feds to Eff Off! None of the Feds business
They need to send all of these so called “trangender students” to see a shrink. Junk “science is BS. This crap is not normal. It’s kids being turned into sexual deviants in our public schools.
Thanks to bam, there are no more states. They are just puppets of the federal government. This is not what the founders intended.
How about a suspension of rules till say 2749. Suits me just fine.
I’ve got a huge problem with this!
Temporary?
Sex changes should be illegal. But if they are not going to be then they should be illegal for anyone under the age of 21. (You know, for those kids who just can’t seem to graduate out of high school).
If this were so, the whole argument becomes moot.
Or just TRANSport the TRANSgenders to a TRANSschool.
Somebody’s decision to be queer should not be the focus of discrimination . . .
Why temporary?
The Obama administration strayed outside the law by ordering public schools to accommodate mentally disturbed students.
First Obama appears to be outside the law.
Second Obama does not seem to recognize that gender confusion is a treatable mental disorder.
Title IX should not be in play here. Just because someone thinks they are of the sex different than their biology suggests doesn’t make it so. Those people need treatment, not pandering
Typical leftist propaganda. The schools were already "accommodating" "transgender" students in a variety of ways. The specific directive of the Obama administration (and I believe it came directly from that deranged man himself) was that students claiming they were or felt like the opposite sex had to be treated 100% as if they actually were.
I think Trump had it right when he opined that this is a non problem as we have lived with it for years and years.
For a solution regarding sports: Students should use the gym and play on teams that match their physical gender.
For a solution regarding everything else, teachers should be as sympathetic to this issue as they would be to a student named “David” who tells the teacher that he is used to being called Davy. As a teacher myself, I would call the kid Davy and put his grade in the book next to the name David.
That’s all very well, but the Federal Department of Education does not give schools the option take reasonable actions.
Lets let Trump take a look at that department.
Perhaps with Secretary Carson.
Mr. Trump, in concert with the U.S. Congress, would do well to eliminate the entire department. Due to the growing societal chaos, we will be seeing more and more “transgenderism” in the near future. Individuals, businesses, and institutions should be able to deal with it as they choose.
All this bs would come to an immediate stop by merely putting XX and XY signs on the restroom doors.
Texas secede! And stop wasting my tax dollars.
