Heck.....I don’t know. I think like you but we are stuck with a reality that heritage and genetic/historic points of origin seem to prevail over national unity. To me it all boils down to a basic innate racial/genetic/whatever sense of “not like us, therefore WE don’t like it.”
It’s because they are not Americans. They didn’t come here to be Americans and hate America, whether they have papers or not
