In what has emerged as the latest scandal involving Donald Trump, the presidential candidate on Friday retracted a statement that he had seen a video on TV of a plane carrying $400 million in cash to Iran, money which as the WSJ reported earlier this week was allegedly made as a ransom payment to free 4 US hostages held by Iran. The statement was a rare reversal of comments he made on the campaign trail earlier this week.
The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran! Trump tweeted.
(snip)
However, as the Washington Examiner notes, after those comments, the Trump campaign told The Washington Post that the tape Mr. Trump had seen was b-roll footage thats been labeled as American hostages landing in Geneva in January after being released from prison. But Mr. Trump said again Thursday in Maine that he guessed the footage was of the money transfer.
(snip)
So Trump did what he has rarely done before: he backed down.
* * *
And then, just as Trump was retracting his claims, something curious happened.
Overnight, the BBC reported that a video did indeed exist, referring to a documentary called "The Rules of the Game" which was broadcast on Iranian state TV in February. In the clip, one can see shots of an airport are accompanied by commentary which references 17 January in Tehran's Mehrabad Airport.
Specifically, the video shows a loaded crate, partially blurred out, which allegedly shows the money in question.

No you are trying to kill us. Put a cork in your comments.
But, weathering the storm each time that lasted for several day, it has come out that he spoke the truth. The fact-checking backed up his supposedly outlandish statements.
I don't know if this will be one of those time, but his track record is quite good.
?Furthermore, I think that, because of his level, he has the ability to find out things that the rest of us can't. For example, I think he knew about Kahn and his dealings with Saudi, and the Clinton Foundation before he brought up the subject.
Just saying. I could be entirely wrong.
We do not know that he didn't see this Iranian video. We only have the word of those BASTARDS in New York MEDIA that he didn't see what he claimed he saw.
Trump may very well have seen that video with the pallet of money, and forgotten about it. Do not forget, the BASTARD media is trying to question everything he says or does while they deliberately run interference for Hillary.
I went on Yahoo this morning and nothing about the ransom until far down on the right-hand side, there was a small section about it, as if it were an insignificant side story. But the headline story was Trump’s latest “scandal.” This is sickening.
TOADY'S MEDIA NARRATIVE: TRUMP LIED ABOUT SEEING THE VIDEO.
Because they are not really Trump supporters. They want Trump defeated so they can puff themselves up claiming that Cruz could have won. They care about being self-righteous, not a twit about the country.
Nope Trump let obama get away with this by giving the dnc/media another”Trump scandal”
Stop giving a damn about what the press thinks. Or, are you carrying water for them.
“This country has lost its mind.
We have become the land of hysterical lying lunatics.”
At this point all the media needs to do is say “Trump is involved in another scandal” and the idiots who listen to them all nod their heads in agreement. It’s amazing! The people directing what the talking heads are saying must be laughing their butts off!
The Liberals in Media drive the story. That's why we ought to be beating h3ll out of them. They won't stop till we hurt them for doing stuff like this.
It used to be that taking bribes or being caught with someone else's spouse was a scandal. Now a simple misspeak is a scandal?

The Ministry of Propaganda can’t catch a break, they think they have Trump and get him to back off his statement and it turns out to be true anyway. LOL.
Yahoo is a left wing cult. So is Google. When we get back into power, we need to be making war on them with the force of government.
They like statism. We need to give them so much of it that they will decide they no longer like it.
You are correct. Unfortunately, this story along with the many others in the present onslaught and those yet to be manufactured, is not directed at discerning readers. It is solely for the "walk-by" headline readers. And, there may be more of them than there are of us.
If Trump says anything, it’s a scandal.
If Trump says nothing, it’s a scandal.
The fact the Trump has a mouth is a scandal.
Trump said, Trump said, Trump said, Trump said, oh my God did you just hear what Trump said, Mr. Trump, what exactly did you mean when you said...
I can’t take it anymore.
Because it's the general election now, and the media needs to take Trump out.
The only reason I bother with CNN is that they are so far off the rails, that it is just incredible to watch. Some of the hosts are pretty skilled at hiding the bias, usually behind relatively complex premise/question pairs. One of Erin Burnett's games yesterday. Full context included, but focus on how "blank check" is used ...
BURNETT: One of the polls that President Obama came out and slammed Donald Trump making it clear that Trump doesn't have the temperament in his words to keep America safe, and it comes as a poll shows the president's approval rating is 54 percent. So, when you look at that, only Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton were as popular. President Obama is coming out almost every day and he' going to go on vacation, but almost every day coming out and slamming Donald Trump. Does that worry you that that's going to influence independent voters?
BLACKBURN: I don't think it's going to have that much impact on independent voters. I think, Erin, one of the things we've seen this election cycle is that a lot of endorsements really don't matter. People are relying on their friends. I like to say the YOU, you and your network of friends.
[19:45:03] That is the most powerful news network for individuals right now, and we are really hearing a lot about that. I find it so very interesting. Social media, Facebook, Twitter, people getting their news from other sources, going to blogs, going to websites and they're relying less on the traditional outlets.
BURNETT: So, the House speaker, Paul Ryan, has endorsed Donald Trump, of course, as you're well aware, but he warned today in an interview that that could change. Here is exactly how he put it.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
REP. PAUL RYAN (R-WI), SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE: None of these things are ever a blank checks, that goes with any situation in any kind of race.
(END VIDEO CLIP)BURNETT: Is your support of Donald Trump a blank check?
BLACKBURN: There is nothing that is blank check. When I support someone, it is something that's very important to me. When I arrive at how I'm going to handle that endorsement I will say this, I think it's very important for us as Republicans to realize that old wisdom that many times we have heard, when you start trying to make a race about personalities, you lose. When you focus it on the people and on policies, good government policies, that's when you win, and it's true every time, Erin.
BURNETT: And let me just ask you in the past few days, the Jeb Bush adviser and top adviser, top adviser for Governor Chris Christie saying she's going to vote for Hillary Clinton, former gubernatorial candidate for governor of California, Meg Whitman, she's going to vote for Hillary Clinton.
This is pretty stunning. Would you ever consider -- is there anything he could do when you say he doesn't have a blank check from you, anything that would make you make that choice?
CNN Erin Burnett - August 4, 2016
She would never ask that "blank check" question of a Hillary supporter. It's an out-of-the-blue absurdity that invites speculation about the candidate doing crazy things. Somewhere along the line of crazy conduct of course you would look elsewhere. That's true for every relationship everybody has. In a news commentary program, without exploring how Ryan is using the phrase (to reject Trump without coming out and saying so directly), the "blank check" remark is nothing more than crap.
Will it ever dawn on you that all this is being done strictly to influence people like you that can't stop listening to this crap and are being programmed by it?
LMAO! :-)
