After a Dubai-bound Emirates jetliner from Thiruvananthapuram crash-landed in Dubai international airport on Wednesday, an amateur video has surfaced on social media which shows some passengers trying to save their belongings rather than their lives.
Moments after all 300 passengers and crew were evacuated safely, an intense blaze engulfed the already-smoked-filled plane, killing a firefighter. It also brought the world's busiest international airport to a grinding halt for several hours.

In the video, a passenger can be heard shouting "laptop, laptop" even as others try to get their bags from the overhead storage bins before they evacuate the plane. Other panic-stricken passengers can be seen desperately making a a run for the door.
An male voice of someone from the aircraft crew is heard telling passengers to "leave their bags, jump on the slide... this way this way".
Another female voice, who might be a flight attendant, is heard yelling, "Jump, jump jump... leave your bags behind, jump the slide."
The Dubai carrier's first significant accident happened after the pilots of the aircraft apparently attempted to abort its landing during a second attempt. There were also unconfirmed witness reports about landing gear problems.
"It was actually really terrifying. As we were landing there was smoke coming out in the cabin," said passenger Sharon Maryam Sharji. "People were screaming and we had a very hard landing. We left by going down the emergency slides and as we were leaving on the runway we could see the whole plane catch fire. It was horrifying."

Looking for the cash they brought in from the west that supports terrorism?
....and fake passports
I don’t think around 200 Indians and a handful of Britons will bring cash from the West to India and then take it to the UAE.
What “we don’t think” might be part of our problem in stopping terrorism.
Our enemies are savage, brutal, compassionless, but one thing you cannot say is that they are not crafty and sly.
Umm, there are millions of Indian expatriates in the Middle East; from personal experience, I can say that they almost always have no special privileges in travelling to the U.S./West, so your scenario doesn’t exactly make a lot of sense.
IF you want to effect a change in thought processes, put a lid on Arab immigration to the West; it continues unhindered.
It really doesn’t matter. It was a thought and an attempt to not get caught up in conventional thinking. Cheers.
Of course, we need to be unconventional in our thinking, but shouldn’t lose sight of the main threat. There would have been scores of honest, hardworking Indian Hindus and Christians on that plane.
I understand what you say but among the “could have been scores of.....” could have been someone we’d never suspect.
In effect, assuming there’s no problem with them is, in effect, profiling itself. That’s one reason why terrorists have a program/desire to indoctrinate indigenous US citizens into their fold.
In the end, what I say doesn’t make a difference. It was just a thought.
I never said give everyone a free pass; I only wanted to point out that its unfair to paint an entire set of passengers with a broad brush.
Article asked why people cared more for their luggage and belongings instead of their lives. I merely posited a reason. Doesn’t make it right, nor worth arguing all day about.
The passengers were dumb and/or greedy.
Or, on a more practical level, they realized that they are Indians and the Indian government is lousy when it comes to providing emergency diplomatic help. The average U.S./EU citizen can survive without his passport or ID in a foreign country since his diplomatic mission typically does a good job.
BTW, I’m not arguing with you! just posted the article to show stupid people can become even in an emergency.
if its not Boeing,
I’m not frying ////..er ... flying
Anyone who didn’t get the hell or soonest has never read a factual story concerning fire in an aircraft cabin.
This is true. During emergency evacuations, people will block the aisles while they stand and open the overhead bins to take their belongings.
Seems to me sitting very near an exit is a wise choice so you are not trapped behind a tube full of idiots trying to pull luggage out of the overhead bins.
“...a tube full of idiots...”
LOL! Great description. One reason we fly as seldom as possible.
Wonder how a plane full of millenials would react...
