Cruz quiet after convention speech, works to rebuild political brand
The Washington Times ^ | August 3, 2016 | Stephen Dinan

Ted Cruz has gone quiet after his daring convention speech, firing off fundraising pleas for his 2018 Senate campaign but otherwise keeping a low profile as analysts say he does the hard work of rebuilding his political brand.

He’s stuck his neck out, both personally and online, to boost several conservatives in the Cruz mold — only to see them lose their primaries...

Instead of being out and about, Mr. Cruz appears to be worried about his campaign bottom line, firing off a couple of pleas to supporters to pony up contributions ahead of his re-election race — which isn’t for another two years...

Mr. Jillson, the SMU political scientist, said the speech was a miscalculation.

“He thought he was reliving one of Ronald Reagan’s great moments, and that it would establish him as the conservative standard-bearer going forward, but the hall didn’t buy it, nor did the country,” he said.

Perhaps the worst signal came later in the night, when Mr. Cruz tried to visit the suite of mega-GOP donor Sheldon Adelson but was denied entry...

Just watching all those highly staged video ads he made, trying so hard to look and sound warm and sincere - a couple of them with his kids and wife (one reading a book at Christmas), another where he’s sitting next to his mother on the couch and talking about her as if he was eulogizing a dead person were excruciating to the viewer and the mother and embarrassing to watch. It was clear that something was very fake and a bit creepy about this guy.

.....was a bit hard to figure out why Trump actually let this guy into the convention and to give a speech no less......

Now it looks like Trump’s move was prescient.

He gave Cruz enough rope.......and Cruz hung himself......

Like Barry Soetoro, Cruz is certainly not NBC and possibly an illegal alien. And refuses to provide a particle of evidence to settle the question.

Back when I liked Cruz, I said that he was just toying with the idea of running for president to enhance his brand. He was taking advantage of the attention to raise money and notoriety. In the end, being Mr. CONSTITUTION, he would certainly know that he was ineligible to the office of president/vice president and NOT RUN.

Boy was I wrong! Right then I knew that Cruz was just a shyster (a person, especially a lawyer, who uses unscrupulous, fraudulent, or deceptive methods...).

It is IMPOSSIBLE that the Cubanadian didn’t know he was ineligible. Welcome to the political ash heap of history you FRAUD! LYIN’ Ted, may you never rise from the ashes.

Bottom line for me now: another attorney.

Attorneys are America’s biggest problem.

Didn’t he say in high school he could be President?

“.......works to rebuild political brand.”......

That’s akin to one man building the Hoover Dam with a #2 gravel shovel.

Trump made a great call again by letting Cruz hang himself publically.

If Trump loses he will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. If Trump wins his only hope for status is to lead the Senate in an independent way while Trump is President. There will be no cooperation.

I used to prefer Cruz-lots of smarts, lots of experience, etc.

Now that he publicly covered himself with s%*t ...he is done.

It just proves what Churchill said about leadership: “Intellect has nothing to do with fitness for the job.”

Maybe Ted’s time is better spent trying to get an interview with Goldman Sachs. Heidi can help in this regard.

Yeah, or with the CFR; but the best thing Lyin-Ted can do is move to Guyana and drink some Kool Aid.

Wish Cruz would do s you say but I get the feeling he felt every bit as entitled as Hillary and is as narcissistic as Obama so he really can’t figure out what he did wrong....

Ted’s brand is built and strong.

We’re not buying it.

Ted chose his path.

Sadly, there was a fork in the road and he took it.

He’s not traveling with Conservatives any longer.

Any guy that would risk helping Hillaey by refusing to endorse Trump, is a guy that will NEVER get my support.

It was bad enough prior to the convention, but Ted’s antics there should turn every Conservative off.

Ted destroyed his political career.

Good riddance.

It will interesting to see how he does in his bid for reelection in 2018. I don’t know
who may be the one to challenge him but I’d bet he will get a strong challenge. I doubt you’ll
see Sarah back down that way as featured speaker at a election event in his honor.
