McCain’s playing the military card hard this time, constantly running a commercial with grim-sounding Middle East veterans calling Ward “soft on ISIS.” I haven’t seen him do that before, so he is clearly worried.

The commercial says she opposed legislation to fund the war against ISIS. People in other parts of the country may be surprised that the Arizona state legislature has the power to do that but that's what Senator McCain's campaign is claiming. So, not for the first time, McCain is an outright liar.
As for Mr. Meluskey, I had an opportunity to speak to some of his supporters (two to be exact) at a recent Phoenix gun show. They simultaneously claimed that Ward was not "really a conservative" (where have we heard that before?) and that she was not mentally stable because she had put in an appearance at the Bundy ranch standoff. After talking with them for a while I became suspicious that they were just trying to split the vote and ensure a McCain victory. I suspect one of McCain's supporters, and probably just one, had been funding them but decided that they had a better use for the money. Expect more McCain attack ads.
