Cornyn denounces Cruz's 'mistake' of not endorsing Trump at convention
The Dallas Morning News ^ | July 29, 2016 | Jamie Lovegrove

Posted on 07/30/2016 2:46:48 PM PDT by monkapotamus

"I think it was a mistake,” Cornyn said in an interview on Fox News Radio’s Kilmeade & Friends. “You don’t come to the convention after you have lost the nomination and not support the nominee. I think the right thing to do would be to stay home. So I think it was a mistake and I don’t know what it means in terms of his future, but I think he miscalculated.”

Cornyn added that he has not talked to Cruz since he saw him in Cleveland, but he said other members of the Texas delegation shared a similar view...

Cornyn's rebuke of Cruz also further cements his role as a firm Trump supporter. Although he has said that Trump was not his first choice in the primary, Cornyn has always said he would back the Republican nominee and has not wavered, despite criticizing some of Trump's individual statements...

I never thought Cruz would make such a stupid choice. He is not as smart as is has been portrayed. Some believe he never was a conservative.

Cruz is a total ass....now for all to see...and he wouldn’t have stood a chance against Hillary and the rat machine.

“In an April interview, Cornyn said Cruz came to the Senate to run for president”

...this is in a nutshell what was bothering most of us about Cruz during the entire primary...his arrogant entitlement mentality.

Follow the money with Cornyn. He’s bought and paid for as well.

A remarkably bad decision. I think ambition clouded his judgement.

Like your tagline btw.

I learned long ago that high IQs and high SAT scores don’t mean a hill of beans if you can’t figure out how to cross the street. Cruz is one of those people. Hope his wife takes care of him and doesn’t walk out!

If it does turn out he was a clandestine Bush operative, it would not surprise me.

He did have me fooled, until he started going full Cheetos on Trump.

Just think folks, if he didn’t, he might have been Trump’s VP, but working for Bush to ensure Trump lost. How about them apples?

I agree that it was a mistake, but I also knew that there would never be an endorsement after the nature of the campaign. People wonder how Cruz could avoid endorsing Trump. I wonder how he could have possibly endorsed Trump without looking looking like a jerk.

I think he probably should have just stayed away from the convention and the campaign.

FWIW, I never thought Cruz was smart. I did some Debate Club in college, and took on parsing the arguments Cruzers gave to defend Cruz and his ever-morphing views. Honestly, I can't see how Cruz could've made it to the Varsity Debate team. Cruz isn't bright; he's smug and it intimidates people at first.

JMHO

For all his blathering about the Constitution and all his so-called values, Ted Cruz only believes in one thing: Ted Cruz.

Fortunately Trump showed him for what he really is, just as he saved us from the coronation of Jeb! which would have been distinguished from Hillary only by the fact that he’s taller.

Really? I hope his wife walks out, takes the kids, they kick him out of the Senate and he spends the rest of his life washing cars for tips.
