Glenn Beck Walked Out Of 'God's Not Dead'
Right Wing Watch ^

Posted on 07/28/2016 2:24:12 PM PDT by MNDude

Conservatives, he argued, must take this lesson to heart and learn to present their views using effective storytelling if they are to have any chance of turning America around and pointed to the Christian film "God's Not Dead" as a perfect example of how not to do that and, as a consequence, why conservatives keep losing.

"I know a lot of people liked 'God's Not Dead,'" Beck said. "I didn't. I don't think I've ever said this on the air. I walked out of it."

Beck said ... could stand it because it was so poorly done and one-sided and that they walked out after 40 minutes.

"It might feel good to have a movie come out where we get to slap people across the face," he said," but that's not helpful."

I did not see it, but I have found that some of those Christian movies with great messages are simply bad movies.

Demonizing the other side? Huh?!?!

Stabber Beck has done more than his fair his share of demonizing lately...especially leading attacks against Trump.

What an elitist snob! Sheesh!

lol. I liked it a lot. And there was no other side to show.

A muslim would do FAR WORSE to his daughter than what was shown in the movie if he found out she was Christian.

The girl with cancer didn’t get a miracle cure or even get a call back from the boyfriend.

I was kind of brutal in some ways, but reality hurts, especially since Beck’s been AWAY FROM IT for so long.

The people who think Nietzsche was actually saying that God is dead are missing the point.

What brought that movie up, Glenn? This was over 2 years ago.
He’s correct in that some movies may be too obvious in their messaging, but that’s way we have different directors and genre. I saw the movie Noah, with Russell Crowe (2014). I walked out of that after about an hour. I didn’t like the way it was directed. I hated the giant Rock People. That was like something you’d expect on a Sesame Street parody.

Glenn Beck is more sanctimonious than most liberals out there, and that’s a pretty big accomplishment!

I guess it wasn’t clever or nuanced enough for his tastes. But I thought it was outstanding as independent films go. Kevin Sorbo did an awesome and chilling job as the atheist professor. Very believable and not too over-the-top I didn’t think.

After listening to about 5 mins of his show unless it was at a 9th grade level for boys it was way above Beck’s head. He lasted one minute with my wife in the car. She found him utterly juvenile.

“I hated the giant Rock People.”

Lol. Same reaction. Difference is I shut the dvd player off and threw the popcorn away. Finished the beer though.

Glenn was great back when he spent his time exposing the various connections between liberal groups, but now he's completely lost it. I initially understood his concerns about Trump, and his belief that Cruz was a better champion of constitutional principles. However, as Trump proved himself not to be the bogeyman that Glenn feared, and Cruz amazingly revealed himself to be the true narcissistic twit in the race, I just completely tuned Beck out and haven't gone back. He's now just stubbornly refusing to live in the real world, and is arrogantly disrespecting the will of the people by presuming to know better than the vast majority of conservatives.

As for God's not dead 2, I loved it and don't get his complaint. While "faith-based" movies have generally tended to be low-budget and therefore not up to the production standards of slick, blockbuster Hollywood productions, they are getting much better as evidenced by both of the God's not dead movies. Sure, they could still be a little more subtle and less designed to "preach to the choir", but those are minor quibbles and there's certainly no reason I see why any Christian would walk out on them.

I think Glenn's empire is going to continue to implode if he doesn't humble himself soon and get back to basics. I started getting the creeps when he began presenting himself as some kind of combination of a prophet and Walt Disney. He needs to get his ego in check. He has done great things in the past; I just hope he can find his way back.
