Television star America Ferrara gave viewers a free lesson in U.S. history Tuesday night, telling an adoring crowd at the Democratic National Convention that the Founding Fathers were united in tolerance of diverse sexual orientations. This country was founded on the belief that what sets us apartrace, language, religion, sexual orientationshould not dissolve what binds us, Ferrara declared to applause.

uhhh.....I am guessing this person is gay and does not know the history of their own subgroup. Diverse sexual orientations were not embraced until the last decade or so. They were actively discouraged in official and unofficial ways. Which is why most remained in the closet. If you were openly gay you could have never served in the military nor gotten elected to office, which are the two primary ways in which people have made their mark on history. That leaves a few artists, authors and poets.
Well, that explains all the lace and tights all those guys wore.
I’m already hearing rumors that the DNC “convention” is being considered for an Emmy for Best Comedy Mini Series.
