Presidential elections are odd, in that the voters choose party electors. Only the electors vote for the president. So, the person on the ticket is just a name that represents the party. The party can replace this name at any time, right up to sending the ballots to Congress in December.
Michelle Obama would be placed in play if Hillary drops out before the election, and possibly even if Hillary drops out between the election and the electoral ballots being sent to Congress.
