1. It was 1941 when the Germans invaded.

2. They damned near won the thing because they caught the Soviets absolutely napping, and Stalin had murdered about 2/3 of his generals in a series of purges, so even when they started fighting back it was very ineffective.

3. If the Germans try to invade Russia, or even Poland, much of Germany will resemble the Moon starting about 1/2 hour later...and EVERYONE knows it and understands why (the Russians have about 26 million reasons for this). Germany is NOT going to invade Russia.

Putting aside this ridiculous claim for a moment; the nostrum of Russian Military superiority is a fantasy beyond hysterical and worthy of a sit-com.
From Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden in the 17th century till Afghanistan in 1989; some 400 years; the performance of Russia on the battlefield has been comprised of 1 part incompetence, 1 part stupidity and 1 part delusion. And they have a succession of catastrophic defeats to prove this.

Someone quoting Zhirinovsky and presenting him as a serious person must be very out of touch. It is the same Zhirinovsky who threatened in 2003 that at night Russian scientists will slightly alter the gravity of Earth and the USA will sink to the ocean within the next 23 hours.

In 1933 they had a very large population of unemployed men, factories that were far less than 100% production. And they had hyper inflation that made it hard for average workers to feed their family.

I very much doubt that the German government could get a million Germans to drop what they are doing and join the army.

That would destroy Merkel’s plans to rule the European roost...

1. Exactly my point. Perhaps today is 1933, in terms of preparation.

2. The Soviets were not napping. Stalin knew they were coming. He chose to do nothing.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Sorge

Both sides were preparing for war. Some argue they were ready to invade Germany when Hitler moved first.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_offensive_plans_controversy

3. I don’t believe Germany is going to invade Russia either. I was simply replying to the poster who wrote that Germany doesn’t have the military to invade. They didn’t in 1933 either, probably not in 1936. By 1941 they did, but they bit off more than they could chew even then.

If you are interested in this stuff and haven’t heard already - the Finns made a secret recording of Hitler and Mannerheim meeting. That gives some insight on why the Germans attacked when they did.

Germany has an army of only 50,000 men and it is going to go to war against Russia?

Fat chance. They can't even control their own borders and control the jihadis swarming all over their own landscape much less take on a nasty opponent like Russia.

They stop what they are doing when the 8 hours is up. The Germans would run from the Russians after a few of them were killed.

...but only 'til quittin' time.

They didn’t have the military to try it in 1933 either.

'41, I think. And Napoleon didn't have much luck in 1812 either.
