My understanding is that it’s more like a pinch-hitter for a true APC. Just to pickup pinned infantry and move them to safety. It also is equipped with a mortar, giVing the Merk an indirect fire capability. It gives the IDF a level of tactical flexibility that a smaller army typically lacks.

My daughter worked partially on this tank. It’s HEAT/infra red is incredible and yes it has a long range missile/shell that can slam a target miles away with some sort of electronics that keep it not only on course but with the same speed...I don’t know much at all about tanks and shells, she just told me the declassified newspaper version. her main skill is molecular bio, says it can discern human from animal and optices can discern children from adults but i guess most tanks do that now.
