Influential Donors Criticize Ted Cruz for His G.O.P. Convention Speech
NY Times ^ | 7/23/2016 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

In an extraordinary public rebuke, two influential donors who were among the biggest supporters of Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign excoriated Mr. Cruz on Saturday for his decision not to endorse Donald J. Trump at the Republican National Convention.

The remarks from Robert Mercer of Long Island and his daughter Rebekah Mercer suggest widening fallout over Mr. Cruz’s convention speech, in which he did not endorse his former rival and, instead, suggested that Republicans should “vote your conscience” for candidates “up and down the ticket.”

“Last summer and again this year, Senator Ted Cruz pledged to support the candidacy of the nominee of the Republican Party, whomever that nominee might be,” the Mercers, who rarely comment in the news media, said in the statement to The New York Times. “We are profoundly disappointed that on Wednesday night he chose to disregard this pledge.”

The statement continued: “The Democratic Party will soon choose as their nominee a candidate who would repeal both the First and Second Amendments of the Bill of Rights, a nominee who would remake the Supreme Court in her own image. We need ‘all hands on deck’ to ensure that Mr. Trump prevails.”

“Unfortunately,” the statement added, “Senator Cruz has chosen to remain in his bunk below, a decision both regrettable and revealing.”

The Mercers invested at least $11 million in Keep the Promise I, one of a group of interlocked “super PACs” that supported Mr. Cruz in his presidential run. During the contentious primary race, Mr. Cruz had early praise for Mr. Trump on the belief that his candidacy would eventually fade and that Mr. Trump’s voters would move over to the senator’s camp.

Instead, Mr. Trump’s candidacy endured and the race between the men grew increasingly rancorous.

“1) Ted Cruz asked the DNC for $ to help fund his delegate fight in Cleveland.”

Picking up his cash would be my guess.

>>>>”By the way we can multi-task.”

It’s best if all the multi-tasks were helpful in defeating Hillary, and none were to her benefit.

Probably could never be proven, but I’m sure there are plenty of other shenanigans that will be unearthed and PROSECUTED.

Anyway, Cruz is Cruz’s own worst enemy. He has shown who and what he truly believes... better than anyone else ever could have, IMO.

“My question is, what is Ted doing on a plane with all these snakes?”

Coiling up with the rest of the nest.

“Republicans need to unite, and the only way to unite is behind shared principles. His speech laid out a path — vigorously defending freedom and the Constitution — for our nominee to unite the party and for Republicans to win up and down the ticket.””

In other words, Mr. Cruz is STILL not endorsing Trump’ uh, well, except PERHAPS if Trump follows the path laid out by Mr. Cruz, you know, which is the “only way” to unite the party, which btw, is only splintered because of Ted Cruz and his ilk, thus said path must involve adopting Mr. Cruz’s “principles” lock, stock and barrel. It’s the ONLY WAY, right Ted?

BTW, “shared principles” are not running for President, Donald J. Trump is, so it’s completely nonsensical to “unite behind shared principles” anyway.

Ted Cruz is a piece of shit, and I hope I live long enough to see the slimeball traitor, Ted Cruz fade to oblivion.

I’m not sure he ever had any potential.

He’s a Dominionist, he only ever had ambition.

Here is the wikilinks link to the actual email were Cruz reaches out to Ken who works for the RNC who then reaches out to the DNC. I am sure that this was discussed between Ted and Ken and then Ken ran with it to the DNC.

Cruz is a two-faced, double-dealing, sneaky, rat-bastard.

Quoted for truth. It’s clear Cruz wants to have another 3 month primary leading up to the debates where he is the authenticator of Trump’s “Constitutional Conservatism”. Levin hinted at as much last week. Cruz wanted to hold out a potential endorsement over Trump like a sword of Damocles. Fortunately, Trump saw Cruz’s game plan a mile away and told him to stuff it. Losers don’t dictate and Cruz way over played his hand.

I think it’s time we focus on Trump v. Hillary.

...

This is about Trump vs Hillary. The two big clowns need to be brought in line so they don’t hurt Trump’s chances. The convention was the line in the sand and they crossed it. I imagine these big donors will be funding the Super Pacs to oppose Cruz and Kasich very soon. They are going to find out that their loyalty to the Bushes and Romney is no longer in their best interests. Trump controls the party now, thank God.
