Trump starts considering Cabinet
The Hill ^ | 23 Jul 2016 | Alexander Bolton

CLEVELAND — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is already focused on picking people for his future Cabinet.

A day before accepting his party’s nomination and completing an astonishing political rise that has taken him to the heights of the Republican Party’s power, Trump met with his inner circle at the Cleveland Westin to discuss his possible transition.

Eric Trump told The Hill that his father is determined to put together a Cabinet that can help him turn around the country. He suggested his father would look to the private sector to find effective leadership for government.

“You have to have the best people, and you have to put those people in charge, and those people have to be the best at what they do, and that’s going to be my father’s message,” Trump said.

“If we’re going to have the biggest deals in the world, which are trade deals, why not have the best guys negotiate this? Why not have the Carl Icahns or the top guys of Wall Street?” he added. “It’s why they’re worth millions and billions of dollars. It’s because they’re tough and they’re shrewd.”

Donald Trump recently floated former Goldman Sachs executive Steve Mnuchin as a possible choice to head the Treasury Department, a development first reported by Fortune. Mnuchin serves as the national finance chairman of his campaign.

Icahn, one of the nation’s savviest investors, said last year he was not interested in heading Treasury.

“You’ll probably see a lot of people who are outside traditional Washington, D.C.,” Eric Trump added. “The people who are in there right now haven’t exactly done this country wonders.”

Change the Department of Defense back to the War Department.

Make John McCain the next Secretary of War.

Think about it. It’s genius.

“Change the Department of Defense back to the War Department.”

I saw some of my dad’s military records last year (he’s 96 yrs young). All with War Department across the top.

Exactly.

Newt gets an office close to The Oval. Every morning he comes to work with three great ideas.

He tells Trump.

Trump says go.

Newt calls the responsible cabinet member to tell him/her what to do. They do it quickly, because they know Newt speaks for President Trump in these matters.

The next day, Newt comes in with three more great ideas....

< Private sector....It sounds so radical....but every last member of our government “leaders” came from the private sector.

They stopped being 'private sector' the second they became "assimilated"

And Melania should be picking out curtains. We bury the Obama/Hillary agenda this year and piss on it next...

If Texas doesn’t recall him very quickly, he will be eligible for the congressional pension plan. 42K with 5 years of service I think it is.

Would it not be interesting to see what the size of an efficient federal government is after waste, fraud and duplicate departments are eliminated. There should be plenty of workers to do those jobs that we have been told Americans won't do.

“urged that the U.N. Headquarters”

I have for many years thought that it would be better if the UN HQ would be located in the Dingiest most war torn, Despotic location on earth. Let them make improvements there rather than partying and bickering amongst the hoy polloy of new York city in the wealthiest sector on the earth. They currently have zero incentive to improve the human condition while they’re drinking champagne and eating caviar in the luxury presidential suites. Maybe an annual vote to determine where their next location should be or if they should remain where they are. That will help them to Focus their Costly Efforts.

These people need a Charter Review!

“Trump is supposed to be good at firing people. I hope so. There’s plenty of deadwood that needs it. Entire departments full of it.”

HUD, and kill Obama’s War on the Suburbs. The Department of Education, Reagan’s target. EPA, one of the Frankenstein monsters that Nixon set in motion.

There’s plenty more:

If my memory serves me, President Truman set up the Department of Defense. His first Secretary of Defense committed suicide. That should’ve been a portend.

While we’re at it, get rid of the Department of Veterans Affairs. It’s just another layer of bureaucracy.

“Sessions: Chief of Staff”

We need him in the Senate. He’ll be more valuable working for Trump there.

Chief of Staff is a high energy job, needs a younger man.

Trump is supposed to be good at firing people. I hope so. There’s plenty of deadwood that needs it. Entire departments full of it.

First and foremost, the Justice Department...scorched earth. Loretta Lynch should polish up her resume now.

Ash Carter and Jeh Johnson should have their offices vacated by the end of the first week, the latest. Anyone who has supported the regime the past few years have to go. All of them. Between that, and reversing executive orders and nominating a Supreme Court Justice, Trump will be busy. Go trump!

Better than firing people. Re-write the laws so that people in the government who get fired must forfeit their fat retirement money.
