Trump starts considering Cabinet
The Hill ^ | 23 Jul 2016 | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 07/23/2016 4:17:53 PM PDT by mandaladon

CLEVELAND — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is already focused on picking people for his future Cabinet.

A day before accepting his party’s nomination and completing an astonishing political rise that has taken him to the heights of the Republican Party’s power, Trump met with his inner circle at the Cleveland Westin to discuss his possible transition.

Eric Trump told The Hill that his father is determined to put together a Cabinet that can help him turn around the country. He suggested his father would look to the private sector to find effective leadership for government.

“You have to have the best people, and you have to put those people in charge, and those people have to be the best at what they do, and that’s going to be my father’s message,” Trump said.

“If we’re going to have the biggest deals in the world, which are trade deals, why not have the best guys negotiate this? Why not have the Carl Icahns or the top guys of Wall Street?” he added. “It’s why they’re worth millions and billions of dollars. It’s because they’re tough and they’re shrewd.”

Donald Trump recently floated former Goldman Sachs executive Steve Mnuchin as a possible choice to head the Treasury Department, a development first reported by Fortune. Mnuchin serves as the national finance chairman of his campaign.

Icahn, one of the nation’s savviest investors, said last year he was not interested in heading Treasury.

“You’ll probably see a lot of people who are outside traditional Washington, D.C.,” Eric Trump added. “The people who are in there right now haven’t exactly done this country wonders.”

Oh, this is so refreshing to think about!

Actual competent people in place instead of campaign staffers who know how to campaign, not govern.

Nope, those unconstitutional and useless departments need to be nuked. Regardless of what Trump may or may not do they need to GO, better sooner than later - if not in this administration, then the administration that takes over in 2024. That is one reason why 2024 is so important and the Right needs to be planning NOW for a continuance of the Trump Movement in 2024 which MUST include the continuance/completion of the dismantling of 80%+ of the mostly unconstitutional $4 trillion central government.

Getting the Constitution back as the Supreme Law of the Land against the feds ensures individual and political freedom for us and the next generation. Otherwise, this whole thing amounts to a speed bump on the Road to Ruin.

Time for some other country to host the UN. They need to move, how about Iceland, Greenland, Australia or Germany, perhaps China?

Nope, put them where they belong. Cuba, Venezuela, Iran or North Korea.

I’m kind of disappointed they haven’t contacted me yet.

Probably just busy with campaign stuff. Probably get the call any day now.

In this type of position, he has the most traction to kick asses and take names.

I'm sure he has a long list of asses to kick. Pay back is *itch.

I agree with these minor edits...

Mr Trump, whole you’re at it, consider dismantling the useless, unconstitutional cabinet departments that are part of federal tyranny and a total drain on political freedom and out economic health.

KEEP but STREAMLINE:
Defense
Interior,
State,
Treasury,
Veterans Affairs,
Justice

DISMANTLE:
Agriculture,(exports in the positive, dump ethanol)
Commerce,
Education,
Energy,
Health and Human Services,
Housing and Urban Development,
Labor,
Transportation (go back to the original base program which supported national defense)

ALSO DISMANTLE:
Dept of Homeland Security - useless and bloated - turn it back into its components, the FBI and the CIA and make them functional once again. (yep, dump redundancy)

We’ll have to disagree. Some can go, but some do take care of American citizens. Creeping communism did not happen overnight. Keep your axe, I vote scalpel.

How do you deal with creeping communism? The same way you deal with a creeping viper in the house: with an AXE.

Hey, I thought this was my idea! Yes, I agree, put the UN bureaucracy (hopefully much streamlined) in some 3rd world site asap.

From your keyboard to God’s (and Trump’s) ears. K.T. McFarland is the only one.

NOT Bolton; he doesn’t think the countries we support need to pay up. They need to have some skin in the game and we have no business subsidizing the rest of the world.
