Oh my God, Luntz said. Wheres the chairman? You shouldve told me this before.
Professional researchers look at data objectively. They do not engage in a project with a specific point of view. Therefore, they are not surprised at the outcome nor do they want the client to tell them what to expect. Luntz may have the credentials of a professional researcher but he does not practice as a professional.
In reality Luntz is a paid consultant and public relations tool for the media and the political class. His job is to perform on television to support and reinforce the story his clients wish the public to believe. His televised “research” is not scientific, it is carefully scripted.
Luntz’s reaction means one of two things:
1) McCain’s situation is much worse than the media is telling us. Luntz wasn’t able to find and recruit enough enthusiastic McCain supporters for his event.
2) The establishment has decided to dump McCain and is deliberately signaling to the people, and the local party operatives, McCain is vulnerable and it is okay to vote against him.
There is no way the “chairman” didn’t brief Luntz before the show.

______________
Agree; however, there is also a third possibility; that is that the “chairman” was aware of Luntz being a GOP-e shill and actually “sandbagged” him.
(Seems like a lot of us are going off the political “reservation” in both major political parties these days.)
Thanks for the insight of what goes on behind the curtain.
McCain has been the least popular senator in the USA for a very long time.
I think Luntz acting surprised is really hard to believe
As for your point #1, which says Luntz did not find and recruit enough mccain supporters for the event, I don’t think he was aiming for that. As per the article, he polled the AZ delegation instead, which is a truer sample of the AZ gop primary vote.
