Well I disagree, but what the heck, Ted Cruz's political career is dead nationally and hopefully dead in Texas too. The Canadian will have a very difficult time getting elected to anything ever again. Cruz is a known liar and an arrogant ass.
Newt is very, very smart. I am sure he will have an important role in a Trump administration.
A natural born citizen (nbc) is a citizen of only one nation. No nation other then the nation of his/her birth has any claims on his/her allegiance. Born on soil to two citizen parents. Under original intent born on soil with a US citizen father. Since Cruz was not born on soil, and did not have an American citizen father, there is no way Cruz, the son of a Cuban born in Canada is a nbc of the USA. No freakin way.
So, you are proudly in Canada, and are sure that Newt is important? He is not.

Your story about your children, where they were born and what you did after they were born makes all of the difference.
None of that was true in Cruz’s case.
If he has any admirable qualities they do not get him over the fact of his birth. He cannot be NBC. There is nothing he or anyone else can do about that now.
An argument can be made that since literally thousands of people who knew better (or should know better) let our current white house occupant get a pass that Ted should too.
It would be a knock-out blow for the rule of law in America.

My comprehension was still at lunch when I read your post. You were a German citizen when your children were born in a US Army hospital.
Your children are unquestionably American Citizens because of your husband and registering them at the American Consulate. They are not NBC however because the requirement is both parents must be American Citizens at the time of birth.
Had you been naturalized before their birth then they would be NBC.
Google Vattel and natural born citizen. It is available on the web in the same form used by the founders. This is the law used to write and define our founding document.
