Ben Shapiro: Donald Trump ‘Orchestrated the Boos’ for Ted Cruz

The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro has an interesting alternative theory about Ted Cruz’s speech to the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night: the Donald Trump campaign “orchestrated the boos.” Cruz camp confirms: Trump approved speech; Cruz was negotiating to help Trump w/ platform;

Late Wednesday night, a source within the Cruz team informed Daily Wire exclusively that the Trump campaign had sandbagged Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) over his speech at the Republican National Convention. Cruz spoke at the RNC, where he congratulated Trump on his campaign victory, then spoke about the necessity for freedom and finally stated that Americans should “vote your conscience.” He was met with resounding boos on the floor of the convention; his wife Heidi had to be rushed from the room; according to reports, one Republican delegate physically accosted Cruz, and Republican megadonor Sheldon Adelson refused to meet with Cruz.

According to the source, the entire Cruz speech was cleared by the Trump campaign. Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign manager, expressly approved the speech at 4:30 PM ET. The source, who was standing on the convention floor at the time of the speech, said that Trump operatives were present, urging the crowd to boo. “This was orchestrated by the Trump campaign to make Senator Cruz a pariah within the party,” said the source.

I supported Cruz, and still don't like some of the remarks made about him today, but I heard some Beck and Erickson, and Erickson (whom Beck quoted at length) was cloud-coo-coo-land crazy. He was trying to persuade his audience that Trump is going to lose because Mitch McConnell has been saying that privately. Mitch McConnell is the wimpier version of Howard "chipmunk" Baker, who certainly said the same of Reagan in 1980.

Erickson CANNOT really believe that. If he expects US to believe it, then he has been reading too much H.L. Mencken, taking it farther than even Mencken meant to go.

Cruz needs to take a break, request a private apology from Trump about the Enquirer story saying he was cheating and about his father. Cruz should also offer regrets about what Liz Mairs said about Melania, and that he regretted suggesting Trump was a contributing factor to the commie thugs' violence when they infiltrated Trump rallies.

After that, Cruz should offer a belated endorsement and lay low until his own re-election. Otherwise he risks having a future as a guest host on Glenn Beck.

Trump has too much pride to actually apologize and Cruz is too stubborn to be regretful and accept...

It's very unfortunate two great men in their different capacities and strengths cannot work out their differences for the betterment of the country...

At least Trump offered small olive branches...

Cruz needs to repent of his pride and be the conservative leader he thinks he is and can be...

Let me fix Ted’s speech in the way that I thought it was going to go as I was watching it last night.

“...... to those listening, please don’t stay home in November. If you love our country, and love our children as much as you do, stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom, and to be faithful to the constitution (AND vote for Donald Trump and Mike Pence for President and Vice President of the United States!”)

SHOCKED!! I was shocked! The shouts and boos were enormous! How could he do that? If that was his plan, then why did he agree to speak? Because he wanted to commit political suicide on live national television and in person to his national party’s local delegates???????????
