BREAKING: Massachusetts Attorney General Bans Sales of All New "Assault Weapons" As of Today
Truth About Guns ^ | July 20, 2016 | Robert Farago

Posted on 07/20/2016 3:25:35 PM PDT by Zakeet

After the usual "assault rifles" are "weapon of war" used by "mass murderers" anti-AR agitprop, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey dropped this bombshell at The Boston Globe.

The Massachusetts assault weapons ban mirrors the federal ban Congress allowed to expire in 2004. It prohibits the sale of specific weapons like the Colt AR-15 and AK-47 and explicitly bans "copies or duplicates" of those weapons. But gun manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to define what a "copy" or "duplicate" weapon is. They market "state compliant" copycat versions of their assault weapons to Massachusetts buyers. They sell guns without a flash suppressor or folding or telescoping stock, for example, small tweaks that do nothing to limit the lethalness of the weapon.

That will end now. On Wednesday, we are sending a directive to all gun manufacturers and dealers that makes clear that the sale of these copycat assault weapons is illegal in Massachusetts. With this directive, we will ensure we get the full protection intended when lawmakers enacted our assault weapons ban, not the watered-down version of those protections offered by gun manufacturers.

[Snip]

Going by what I'm reading here, this new "directive" immediately bans the sales of all new AR and AK-style style rifles in The Bay State. I've called several Massachusetts gun stores (e.g., Worcester’s Pullman Arms above) and yup, they're pulling all their modern sporting rifles off the shelves. Every. Single. One.

Those New England communists hate the 2A but love subjecting little boys and girls to perverts in public bathrooms.

The entire Northeast Corridor is going to hell in a handbasket.

The AG is not allowed to do that. Haven’t generations of Massachusetts children learned about the 2nd Amendment?

Anyone that wants to have their legal right to protection should move to another state that approves of their rights, if at all possible!

NO she doesn’t. Even the Legislature cannot do this without an Emergency Preamble.

The Mass governor is Republican. He should stop this.

He's an empty suit. I saw him a Republican town committee meeting. there is not even one smoldering ember of conservatism in him.

If this thinking was the norm in 1775 the Minutemen would have been limited to pitchforks, as the musket was the standard military “assault” weapon.

Are either a Ruger Mini-14 or a Springfield Armory M1A1 be included under this definition? I’m thinking “No” but figure that “government think” is “Yes.”

I know, that irks me too.

Blue = associated with tradition; makes sense to give it to conservatives.

Blue = associated with colonial America; makes sense to use that for conservatives.

Blue = traditional home team color; should go to conservatives. Not so much because conservatives should be considered America’s home team, though they should, but CONSERVatism and home team just make sense together. “Progressives” are the ones who want to change stuff, THEY should get the opfor color.

Red = traditionally associated with commies. Why on earth would you use it for conservative/freedom lovers/capitalists?

There were two people killed with long guns (not necessarily assault rifles or even rifles btw) in Massachusetts in 2013. That's twice as many as were killed by long gun in 2012 incidentally.

Wow, 100% increase in long gun deaths in just one year!!! When will someone do something??? For the cheeeelrunn?? Surely there's some rogue civil right we haven't violated yet!

In 1775, there were still pikemen in the British Army, so even the pitchfork could be a “copycat” assault weapon.
