Donald Trump's campaign reached out to John Kasich in May with an offer to make him the "most powerful vice president in history," the New York Times reported Tuesday.
Trump's oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a Kasich advisor after the Ohio governor ended his own presidential campaign, promising that if he accepted the vice presidency, Kasich would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.
The advisor asked what Trump would be in charge of, the report said, and Trump Jr. responded: "Making America great again."

Kasich, the Ohio governor, rode up an escalator at the rock museum to live music, waving, smiling and clapping in return at his party faithful – a visual reminder of the Trump Tower escalator that Trump himself rode down when making his announcement to seek the presidency.

If Trump loses Ohio, he loses the election. Kasich knows this. If that is how it plays out, history will see Kasich as the villain who destroyed the GOP. Hillary will have 10 million new dependent voters in the next election cycle. The middle class will be destroyed. Those with money —— the big taxpayers —— will leave the country. We will become a banana republic with a felon as the chief law enforcement officer. And what will she do when Iran is in a position to deliver a nuke to Israel?
