CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Ted Cruz's Texas-size political ambitions will be on full display Wednesday as the primary runner-up delivers a prime-time convention speech, but holds off on a full-throated endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump.
The conservative senator repeatedly clashed with Trump during a bitter primary fight, with the New York businessman mocking the lawmaker as "Lyin' Ted." With an eye toward 2020, Cruz's team drafted a convention speech focusing on adherence to the Constitution, a calling card for conservatives and a perceived contrast with Trump.
Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials. Nor is he expected to in his speech, which was carefully screened by Trump campaign officials, the senator's aides said.

In a wide-ranging interview Friday with CNN Special Correspondent Jamie Gangel, the former Florida governor talked about his campaign beyond New Hampshire, but also said he plans to support the Republican nominee -- even if that's Donald Trump.
"I will support the Republican nominee no matter who he or she is," Bush said when asked about Trump. "I've done it my whole entire life. I've signed a pledge to do it. I'll do it."
Cruz’s delusion is complete.

Cruz will either endorse Trump with full-throated enthusiasm, or he will be destroyed by God for standing against His chosen Hand on Earth. Just like Roger Ailes, David Cameron, the list goes on and on of once powerful people who stood against Trump and have been removed for this transgression.

Cruz has painted himself into an unenviable corner. He’s made Trump out to be such a monster in human form, it would look unprincipled for Ted to endorse him.
The only way he could manage it would be something like, ‘Yes, I said Trump is a pathological liar, and he is. However, Hillary is an even *worse* pathological liar. Vote Trump!’
So basically he’ll be rooting for hillary, since that gives him the best chance in 2020.

There is a spiritual component to that. The Father of Lies and author of confusion assists his own. Most people have shrugged off this particular illusion.
Cruz will be President someday and when you disparage him in a future election cycle perhaps you will be banned from FR just like those who criticized Trump.
Cruz is all ambition, no principles.
