NO SIGN OF TRUMP ENDORSEMENT, BUT PLENTY OF CRUZ AMBITION
Associated Press ^ | 7/20/2016 | Thomas Beaumont

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Ted Cruz's Texas-size political ambitions will be on full display Wednesday as the primary runner-up delivers a prime-time convention speech, but holds off on a full-throated endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The conservative senator repeatedly clashed with Trump during a bitter primary fight, with the New York businessman mocking the lawmaker as "Lyin' Ted." With an eye toward 2020, Cruz's team drafted a convention speech focusing on adherence to the Constitution, a calling card for conservatives and a perceived contrast with Trump.

Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials. Nor is he expected to in his speech, which was carefully screened by Trump campaign officials, the senator's aides said.

>>Cruz will be President someday

Are Cruz’s Dominionist aspirations rooted in the Spirit or in the flesh?

I don’t think he will ever be President. No matter what he says or does, we know how Democrats operate. Absolutely no way will they ever allow it because of his citizenship issue. Whether it’s right or wrong doesn’t matter, they would never let it go.

‘Endorsement or not, Cruz is definitely not someone you want hanging around the campaign.’

Agree. He cannot be trusted to prioritize interests other than his own.

Cruz will NEVER be president. He is NOT ELIGIBLE! Trump will bring respect for the Constitution back into America. Go TRUMP!

“Of course the Associated Press is going to want to paint Cruz as a bad guy. We FReepers shouldn’t be so quick to glom onto the MSM’s negative portrayals of this proven conservative senator.”

Nice try. This has nothing to do with the Associated Press or any other people who are against Cruz for their own reasons.

If Cruz whole heartedly endorses Trump tonight and appeals to his supporters to bury the hatchet and enthusiastically board the Trump Train to help defeat Clinton in 2016, then he will have belatedly done the minimum to earn back a small part of the respect I have lost for him, and the minimum for his country and the conservative cause against Clinton.

If he fails to do so and selfishly plots for 2020 then it’s #neverCruz for this conservative.

There was a time for legitimately worrying that Trump was not a conservative or could not win, and that there were better alternatives. But that train has left the station -it’s called the Trump Train.

If those worries had been founded, Trump would already have moderated his conservative positions and his supposedly liberal democrat “true self” would have manifested by now - and it’s not. If those worries had been founded, his campaign would have fizzled and evaporated in a cloud of unfocused populism - and it didn’t.

This is one of the most coherent and focused campaigns I have ever seen. Make America great again, make America safe again, make America first again.

This is the time when fake conservatives start showing their true colors, and Trump is not showing any sign of that.

I really don’t understand why he is being allowed to speak. Trump will carry Texas. What does a tepid speech by Cruz do for Trump?

...broke it.

Not yet. So far, all we have is the media's word for it.

The Never Trump attempted coup groups have now opened themselves up to no support from Trump supporters. Long standing consequences for these traitorous displays. It now goes both ways. There have been many conservatives and Republicans that have been disgusted with the spineless Republicans that are just enablers of these dangerous Dems so they wanted everyone to get on board for Romney, McCain and now pull this? Karma is a beyotch.

On the bright side, Cruz won’t be plagiarizing “my word is my bond” in his speech tonight.

I’m sure you’re right where a large quantity of Cruz supporters are concerned. Nevertheless I have been lectured repeatedly, within the past couple of weeks by posters who are still active, that Trump was not the nominee. Once Trump became the nominee, I’ve been told, Cruz’ endorsement would quickly follow.

This is what I posted on another thread about Cruz breaking his pledge and not endorsing. NO comment from the Cruzers so far...

Again, I ask Cruzers...

WHAT SAY YOU?

Post:
You know, I too, hope CNN is wrong. If CNN is wrong and Cruz endorses Trump tomorrow, serve me crow. However I have rather suspected this would be the Cruz ploy. I am so thoroughly disgusted with this dishonorable wretched manipulating liar who would put his own stubborn pride and career ahead of the country.

I remember all the debates here with the Cruzer holdouts who even this week told us the #NeverTrump delegates were not Cruz people...and who assured us in no uncertain terms that Cruz would endorse Mr. Trump once Trump becomes the NOMINEE...they took great pains to parse the words “presumptive” nominee versus “actual” nominee. They said the pledge was to endorse the NOMINEE, not the PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE.

Well, Cruzers, Mr. Trump is in fact the GOP Nominee. What say you now????

I would respect both these men more if they honor their pledge.

I was a strong Cruz supporter, I am VERY disappointed in him right now. If he does not endorse I will never support him in the future.

TrusTed pledged to support the GOP candidate. Now, he’s going back on that promise. Another lie.

Cruz is speaking tonight, I believe. And, if he cares about his political future, he'll do the right thing.

Yeah, I'll wait until the actual speech before condemning or praising.

And they are still wondering why Trump won the nomination. It’s because of this kind of crap. They think they know better than the American people. They should go to the democrat party since they’d fit right in with that mentality.

Yes, IMO they never should have let the slimey little toad speak without an endorsement first. I expect Felito to face a !of of booing when he takes the stage.

His lies and smarmy behavior has already ended any political future he might wish unless he joins the RATS.
