John Kasich's very public snub to Trump as he holds party for Republican 'friends' [trunc]

It was the the party that Donald Trump was branded too uncool to be invited to be to – even at his own political convention.

About two thousand powerful Ohio Republicans gathered at Cleveland's storied Rock and Roll Hall of fame and delivered the ultimate snub to the man widely seen as persona non grata.

The most powerful Republican in the state, Governor John Kasich, threw the bash for a group he called 'friends': fellow party elder statesman, delegates, party workers and the future stars of the Grand Old Party.

One senior Republican said there was an obvious reason why Trump wasn't at the Kasich party, which was less than a mile from the convention venue.

'His family doesn't like Trump –and his wife in particular, and John is very stubborn,' said one longtime Republican who knows Kasich well.

Trump should offer him the Postmaster General job.

Perfect comeback from the Donald. I like it.

This jerk had as much chance of getting nominated as I did. I cannot believe they held the convention in his state. From what I recall, rarely does the convention occur, in the modern era, in the state of the nominee.

This asshat will be one of the regulars in the media both during the election and if Trump wins, during his presidency.

What galls me to no end is this group of GOPes for years told us we had to vote for the candidate of the party. Now since the party has evolved, we should only vote for the guy the GOPe wants. I even saw that jerk Rove on last night. He looked as animated as a stump.

And the Rock Hall with all of its private parties for special interests?....that isn’t what the history of rock music is supposed to be all about. They’re presentation of rock has become a tool for the elitists who use music as part of their strategy to control the masses.

**************

A very profound observation and an excellent comment.

Rock ‘n’ Roll has never been about conformity or support for the status quo. There’s always been a bit of a revolutionary tone to the music. To use the Hall for a self-serving political event like this is a perversion of what the museum represents. Leave it to a politician to exploit anything to get votes.

Kasich is senile.

Knew it when he was lecturing Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn on the Torah, told them they didn’t know what they were talking about.

Ohio Ping!

As mentioned in post #4 Newt on Kasich on F & F - around the 4:50 min mark (just before that he mentions Cruz)

As mentioned in #6 Sore Loser - even Democrat pushing media in Ohio is critical of Kasich.

Sore loser - editorial

Ohio is a key swing state. The Republican presidential candidate will have a hard time winning the presidency without Ohio. John Kasich is a Republican officeholder. He was a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. It seems very clear that he is already gearing up for another run in 2020. (One of the delegations he is visiting with this week is from New Hampshire.) How do you aspire to be a leader of your party — maybe even THE leader — and not support the party’s nominee? Especially when Ohio is key and you are the governor of Ohio?

The sad thing is that he could have gotten on the bandwagon and helped win Ohio in the general. I think Trump will win Ohio and when he does K-sick will have no leverage, have no thanks, he will be done.

Trump could have used the party organization that Kasich has put together but will now have to spend resources to reorganize. Kasich is toast in national politics because of his own stupidity. Kasich will be too old to run in 8 years but he doesn't know it.

What an idiot.

Didn’t he take “The Pledge”

Yes he did and his actions now are those of a liar, a coward and a hypocrite.

He is example A1 of everything that is wrong w/ the GOPe and American politics and he is why Trump is the GOP nominee.

The RINOs and party elites don’t understand that it’s over for them. The people rejected all their fair haired boys and picked total outsider Trump because they are sick and tired of politics as usual in Washington. How well Trump will govern remains to be seen, but the party elitites that have run things for decades are history.

I'm not just blaming Kasick. Rolling Stone magazine runs the Rock Hall. It's very much into separating the elite who want to control everyone else from the masses.

They have these private parties (today's is reserved for Bruce Jenner and his social fellow travelers). And then to compensate they'll during the day for the convention have free admission for the masses. I guess they think they're being fair, but it's quite the opposite. Rock and Roll in its original state brought people together. It would be nice if the Rock Hall had policies against events that are making an exclusionary political statement.

PS: There's a reason we call it the "Rock Hall". Its induction choices have become such a mess that it's hard to call it a Hall of Fame anymore.
