So long as they pay the appropriate royalty fee to AASCAP Trump’s campaign does not need their permission.

I don’t think Queen extolled great Americsn values.
Why use their music?
To: conservative98
Too bad. That is not how ASCAP works.

Do any of us need to get written permission from Queen or any other band if we play their music to fifty people at a barbecue party, too?
Good grief, quit your bellyaching you silly old fossil musicians!

Should not have sold your music to the big distributors.

If you don't want people whose politics you don't like to play your music then:
1) First of all, you are an ass. It is an unprofessional attitude to not wish to serve people based on ideology.
2) Secondly, after you signed the papers with organizations that sell the rights to let people play your music at public events, you have given up your right to control the political views of who plays your music at public events.
3) Thirdly, you are not asked to actively go and participate in a ceremony you don't like...something that leftists force caterers to do under pain of being driven out of business.
4) Fourthly, shut up and sing. You are not famous for being smarter about politics than others, you are famous for making good music. If you want to be politically neutral like you claim, you would have kept your stupid mouth shut. Nobody has taken the playing of the champion song as your personal endorsement, and nobody cares who you endorse. Get over yourself.

how the heck does this work? There are events all over the place and songs are played over loudspeakers. Is the trigger for royalties the fact that this event is televised? Or should royalties always be paid but no one does it? There are fairs and events and then there’s cover bands playing all the time.
It seems like selective outrage to me by liberal musicians when conservatives use their music.
