Trump’s unusual campaign extends to its Jewish outreach, or rather his lack of Jewish outreach resembling anything that has come under that rubric in other campaigns.

When I volunteered to work in the Reagan '84 campaign they had me filling out the addresses on Jews for Reagan envelopes (handwritten envelopes are 10x more likely to be opened and read, even then). I guess that counts for outreach.

Guys like Trump live and work and have Jewish family members. You spend your life in NYC, you know Jews. You work in big time construction and casinos, you know Jews (though usually secular in that realm). Trump hasn't spent a lot of time on the "group to pander to" outreach thing as he runs a lean campaign using earned media to reach nearly everyone.

Now, Hillary Clinton has an effective Jewish outreach. She got the votes of an entire Orthodox Jewish enclave by agreeing to back them on a matter of local interest in her Senate run. Effective politics. Bad statesmanship. Trump doesn't play the game that way, which is why people who don't fall neatly in those groups are eager to support him.

I believe it quite probable that Orthodox Jews will generally do their own thinking vis a vis Donald, rather than demanding to be wooed by pandering politics. How could Trump possibly out-Hillary Hillary here? It would be vain and grotesque.
