people here should stop pretending it didn't happen and get to the bottom of who did it and why

IMO the rickroll is the big “tell” that this speech was tampered with on purpose to take away from the other speeches last night. Whoever did this got a little too cute.

As long as people are comparing Melina’s speech with Michelle’s speech, why not look at differences as well as similarities. Look at differences in delivery as well as content.

I’m not going to knock down Michelle or Melina.

The thing that concerns me are not so much the words. They are common phrases.

What concerns me is how the story got to the MSM so quickly.

That is what makes me think that it may have been a set up.

I doubt anyone even listened to Michelle Obama’s speeches. I don't know who wrote them but they were usually terrible. But the media had the information very soon after Melania's speech. Far too soon for them to have figured it out for themselves. It was like they were ready to run with it.

The media ignored the speech itself. The speech was very good. I was impressed. I would like to see it again.

I don’t know why the informant for this article wasn’t named. But note that in the Fits article, he goes from “director of a pro-Trump organization” in South Carolina to “aide”. The person that best fits this description is Jeff Taillon, who was Political Director at Donald J. Trump for President, Inc, acc. to LinkedIn, and later was hired by the Trump campaign, acc. to Breitbart. Can’t see why he wouldn’t want his name mentioned.

Most likely it was a setup.

Trump needs to have more control over his speech writers.

Exactly. It isn’t the plagiarism in itself that is the problem. The question is who did it (almost certainly Cruz’ ex-aides cum Trump speech writers), and what to do about Cruz’ Thursday night upcoming speech. That is a tactical question that Trump’s team better be considering seriously.

I would like to sue everyone that uses the same words my parents and mentors used in the 1940's.

There are only so many words in use today. They have all been used in the past. Some more than once. Get over it!!!

I cant tell you how many times in my 70 plus lifetime I have heard these same platitudes.

People don't have nearly enough to do.

“...stop pretending it didn’t happen...”

Agreed. I have now said in several threads that this had to have been a traitorous inside job and the person who inserted the plagiarized words into the speech did so deliberately and needs to be exposed and fired.

THEN we can put it behind us, because it IS a tempest in a teapot as far as the big picture; however having a traitor within the inner-speech-writing Trump ranks is serious and needs to be addressed fast.

Go Trump. Fire them.

I wonder if Hillary may have planted a speechwriter in Trump’s campaign.

I suspect it’s more that Trump hired second rate speech writers because they charge less. Hillary is outspending him ten to one so the gap has got to be closed somehow.

word is bond is hip hop...or black speech. I remember the DC sniper using it in a letter to Moose.

As a Schoolboard President I gave a speech that expressed the same sentiments, cliches, and truisms that were contained in Michelle's and Melania's speeches.

It is not plagiarism because no one owns those type of phrases or words which appear in speeches given by athletes, actors, students, anybody who was ever proud of what they accomplished. I think many live in a nitpicking, critical world of pure lunacy especially the disingenuous MSM.

this just occurred to me could the criticisms of melena Trumps speech been written and turned in before she even gave the speech. the attack on the speech seems to coordinated and fast in the old fashion print journalism side. I am wondering if the newspapers new about this a head of time and if some of the articles that were written could of been turned in for print before she even gave the speech. the important thing to look at is what time the Washington post and the new York times went to print with the story. another thing that needs to be looked at is where theses reporters were physically after the speech. I am betting that they were actually out schmoozing trying to dig up dirt in some cases and it can be proven that there pieces were written will before and then altered slightly by the editors before going to print......if this happened over the internet on web pages I can believe how fast it was caught and spread but for the newspapers that go to print I can not see how. Most news papers go to print at three or four in the morning I just cant see how the story could of made it to print

>>>”bottom of who did it and why..”

Ultimately, it’s Trump’s responsibility. Whatever staff he has chosen to vet the speech is responsible.

Media is going to pounce on anything, even if it’s not there. This wasn’t that big a deal, but an unforced gift to MSM. Hopefully, Trump’s team will learn and fix.

Hell yes. If this was sabotage this must get out. We need to be the campaign of truth. Someone either was a total idiot, looking at Mooch’s speech, or else it was sabotage. What else will they do?

Trump needs to Erdogan his new staff...

NOTHING “happened”. A couple of sentences were generic and
somewhat similar. - A tempest in a teacup; an attempted
distraction and trial balloon to see what will rile TRUMP.

Also, an attempt to put Michelle in the spotlight. The
high points of Moochie’s speech was it was the “first time
in her life she had been proud of America” and Mooch had it
tough (boo hoo).

So Melania Trump said some of the same things and used the same/similar wording as Moochelle Obama...It’s not like Moochelle made some great discovery or had some novel insight into the human condition and Melania tried to claim it for her own...

Melania simply repeated her own life experience as did Moochelle...I happen to believe Melania Trump a damn sight before I’d ever believe Moochelle had those sentiments and ever shared such solid values with her offspring...

Actually, it’s the Left who should be getting over IT (as if there’s something to get over in the first place)...

By the Left’s “reasoning”, once a topic is discussed or a turn of phrase used, it becomes the exclusive property of the user and cannot be repeated or it’s plagiarism...By that logic, all are plagiarists...
