As presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump arrived in Cleveland Monday afternoon, he was greeted by NBC Today co-host Matt Lauer hectoring him about the “tone” of the GOP convention, which had barely started: “There’s been so much violence in the country in the last couple of weeks. People are on edge, they’re tense. You add to that the passion that comes with political debate and there are people who are truly afraid that things could boil over here in Cleveland.”
In the interview, aired on Tuesday morning, Lauer demanded Trump promise to keep convention speakers in line: “Would you be willing to make a pledge to speak to everyone involved in this convention and say, ‘Please tone down the rhetoric’?...So can you say to the people who are going to take to that podium this week, ‘No personal attacks, no vitriol, keep it civil’?”

In my mind the cause of the blacks-versus-cops problem is unemployment. Obama has said some inflammatory things but I truly think he’s trying to help a situation that is helpless in the short term.
Trump is definitely not part of this problem. He may have riled up Mexicans and Muslims, but not blacks.

• If they wrote a ‘Mein Kampf’ for us, violence and disruption could not be more certain.
• For months now, there have been almost weekly and very violent dress rehearsals in the news. Domestic violence has been all but guaranteed and violence abroad has been shamelessly celebrated!
• All these foreign AND domestic anarchists have been spewing ceaseless, crudely articulated and barely disguised threats and promises of further violence and chaos to the city of Cleveland and to the RNC.
• The most inflammatory language and the most deliberately intimidating behavior have been glorified in the MSM. New and appalling extremes of criminal malfeasance have been achieved in this continued association between Liberal politics and main stream ‘journalism’.
• Even the ‘President’ of the United States of America has OPENLY condoned the conduct of these criminals and their stated agenda!
Liberals have forgotten, (if they EVER knew) that there are T W O political parties in the US. Somehow, they think the Republican convention is illicit ….and the Democratic convention is the ONLY forum for American politics.

Lauer apparently hasn’t been listening to the vitriol in the words of Clinton and Fauxcahontas.

At the time I posted my original post, I hadn't read the entire article, but like I said I do not believe that statement about asking Hillary the same question.

The Left then of which I was admittedly pretty much a member hated the alphabet networks and print media and found them not lefty enough
The left today and most of the media and Hollywood and Internet tech are fellow travelers
They view Rachel Maddow and Van Jones and Don Lemon as peers and contemporaries
Plus the network owners like Paley and especially Sarnoff were not lefties per se
Sarnoff was a serious righty and Paley knew the limits like the Howard K Smith affair
