Melania Trump’s Speech Bears Striking Similarities to Michelle Obama’s 2008 Address
NY Times ^ | 7/19/2016 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Mrs. Trump, Monday night:

“From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise, that you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily lives. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son. And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.”

Mrs. Obama, in her 2008 speech:

“Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them. And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children — and all children in this nation — to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

If a speech writer did do this on purpose, what other moles are in the Trump camp providing advice. In a way, I hope someone did do it intentionally and the truth is brought to light.

It’s doubtful she wrote the speech entirely herself.

The speechwriter(s) are responsible for the plagiarism.

I swear Trump did this on purpose... the media will talk about this all day tomorrow highlighting Melania’s speech to everyone who might have missed it....

He uses the negative space to highlight positives... and let the media do all of his advertising for free.

Quite brilliant.

pretty much boiled down to:

” values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say”

...followed shortly later by “treat people with respect”

So it seems that there is a 23 word string that was the same.

Trivial, but so are the Democrats, who only want to distract and smear.

A democrat can eat a baby, live on TV, and the news media will cheer her and tell us the infant had it coming.

A conservative can sit quietly in a church and the news media will call for his impeachment for loitering.

I thought the same. Perhaps the same writer worked on both speeches. You can’t plagiarise yourself. Right.?

“Also how quick it was spotted, given the generic nature of the duplicated thoughts expressed in the words.”

As others have noted, most of these speeches are probably written by professional speech writers. They speak with their “client”, get to know what the client wants to talk about, brings up stuff the client might miss that relates to the campaign, etc. So it is the client’s thoughts and ideas, but professionally written.

I would imagine that these speech writers will be watching all of these major events - with Moochelle’s writer listening to Mrs. Trump and thinking “Hey - that sounds familiar”.

Or - the wonks probably have a fancy version of “Google” than can take a transcript and run it against other speeches for just this type of thing.

Unfortunate that a good speech gets taken over by this stupid crap.

If Donald's acceptance speech on Thursday begins, "Four score and seven years ago," we'll know there are more moles to deal with.

“It is so blatant and there has been so much attempted Trump sabotage from GOPe consultant quarters that there is a good chance that this was planted to blow up just as it has.”

Indeed.

It’s MEANINGLESS FLUFF that the MSM will be able to talk about tomorrow and go back to for days to avoid talking about substantial issues (in between the Breaking News alerts on Taylor Swift versus Kim Kardashian - a “storyline” getting “serious media” coverage).

She said she wrote the whole thing this morning on the Today Show.....that doesn’t help. I do not for one moment believe she wrote it at all.
