Anti-Trump Dissidents Disrupt Convention, Fail To Stop Nomination
ZeroHedge ^ | 18 Jul 16 | Tyler Durden

In a brief period of excitement (especially for completely unbiased John Harwood), Republican factions trying to stop Donald Trump's nomination noisily disrupted a vote on party convention rules. But, as The Hill reports, the Republican National Committee ignored the outcry from the angry delegates and adopted the convention's rules by a voice vote, rebuffing shouts by those looking to mount a last-ditch effort to sink Donald Trump.

As Bloomberg reports,

Delegates from Colorado were seen walking out of the convention hall, and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli was spotted angrily throwing his convention credentials to the floor.

The disruption Monday on the first day of the convention was the first sign of fracturing within the party ahead of the presumptive Republican nominee's appearance in the hall Monday night to introduce his wife, Melania.

Former Senator Gordon Humphrey says he filed requisite signatures from nine delegations to force roll-call vote on Rules. Humphrey, a New Hampshire delegate, said he's not confident RNC staff has "courage" or "independence" to "stand up" to pressure from Trump organization to disallow or ignore petitions.

Humphrey, who opposes Trump's nomination, called the presumptive nominee's supporters "brown shirts" during an interview with MSNBC.

"They act like fascists," Humphrey, who represented New Hampshire for two terms in the U.S. Senate, said.

Senator Mike Lee, a Utah Republican, said he could not fathom the decision by the convention organizers in an interview with CNN.

“If what they want is unity, treat us respectfully as delegates," Lee said. He called the incident "surreal."

* * *

In the end, the rules were adopted by voice vote shortly after 4 p.m., then after frantic protests, a second voice vote was taken as Trump opponents shouted repeatedly for a roll call vote.

Lee is giving interviews to every left-wing and Trump hating media outfit in existence.

He is clearly trying to take a crap in the middle of the living room, hoping to ruin the party.

The Secretary of the convention reported to the Chair that only 9 states submitted petititons to hold a roll call vote, and then three states withdrew their petitions, leaving an insufficient number of signatures to require a roll call vote.

Cruzer’s Losers lost.

It’s what they do.

The majority of delegates assented to the rules.

And I thought the minority gives way when it loses the vote.

It was disgraceful.

trying to change the da** rules at the last minute to, specifically, deprive the voters their candidate...
THAT doesn’t show any respect whatsoever for the American people .... or R party members who participated in the nomination process in many states across USA

What does roll call vote mean? Each state has a yes or no?......or does each delegate get called?.......all 2000+?

Soooo, according to Mike Lee they are acting like fascists because they are not allowing the delegates to over turn the will of the primary voters. Have I got that right?

Yes, you do.

Remember, the elites hate you and me.

I agree. Lee needs to go. Look I am no fan of Trump. But he won fair and square. Let him have his chance and quit the whining.

Being a Virginian who voted for Ken Cuccinelli more than once it is quite a disappointment to see such childish behavior from the former Virginia Attorney General. From where does Ken get his orders, or for that matter, all of the Virginia Republicans who favor Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump?

Are they all GOPe and part of the Democrat/Republican oligarchy?

Cruz, Lee, Sasse, Cuccinelli are dead in the GOP. Their careers are finished.

They were the same rules written by the Romney people.

Only thing controversial is some people hate Trump and they don’t have a credible alternative candidate.

Their temper tantrum was childish and immature. We learn growing up that we don’t get everything we want in life.

And we have no right to force other people to cater to our whims.

I believe each state tallies their own and reports by state, but it has been awhile since the delegates were allowed to vote by anything other than acclamation.
