I was in the streets of Chicago in 1968 during the Democratic Convention. It was only a few months after Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King were shot to death. The “establishment,” as we called it back then, was all set to nominate Vice-president Hubert Humphrey who had started out in Washington as a Midwestern progressive firebrand but was now was broadly perceived by America’s hippie youth as a stooge and a sell-out to the evil forces running the Vietnam War.
I wasn’t exactly a protester, more like a proto-journalist, there to witness an epochal event. It was a wild three days with a lot of moiling in Lincoln Park and Grant Park, and finally out on Michigan Avenue the night of Humphrey’s awful apotheosis, where things got especially ugly and the tear gas canisters flew. But that was about it. Nobody got killed by the police, or vice-versa, and then we all went back to college (my SUNY school cost $500-a-year back then, by the bye). Nixon was the consolation prize.
Back then, it was in style to assassinate political leaders. Today it’s in fashion to assassinate police. It’s hard to imagine easier targets. Where trouble is brewing in the streets nowadays, there they stand: right out in front, easily distinguished in their uniforms. That was exactly the picture on the front page of The New York Times today: the thin blue line in Cleveland, where the Republican convention convenes this week to nominate the golden deus ex machina Donald Trump. There are few things in life one can predict with certainty, but given the grave events of recent weeks, it is hard to see how deadly gunplay might be avoided at the 2016 Republican convention.

I know that big cities run by Republicans are far and few between but what's wrong with Fort Worth, TX, Miami, FL or Oklahoma City, OK. Even San Diego, CA has a Republican mayor and I'd take San Diego over Cleveland 7 days a week, even with the Padres.

A movement started by the likes of the a-holes who rioted in 1968. They started the ball rolling. BLM and Occupy are their inheritors.
It's telling that the Rats believe they need to start a race war to get blacks riled up enough to vote for Shrillary. Her numbers must be worse than polls are showing, especially with minorities.
I’m hope against hope that no one is killed on either side. A dead protestor would be a martyr regardless of any rational analysis. Police are doing their jobs in an almost impossible situation (talk about untenable rules of engagement). Both the police and delegates can be seen as doing service for our country.
It’s not war yet.
War is when both sides are fighting.
Right now it’s one sided - the killing is all incoming.
But the liberals are working hard to recreate 1968.
And if they keep pushing it could easily become war.
“Wrought” works but “Wreaked” is better. It states that “dishonesty has brought about “the race war.”
Could there be an “over/under” bet in Vegas??? Or, just in your house?

The only thing I can come up with is they want to lose.
It's more like 2:1. There are just too many cauc-old white liberals, progressives, radical leftists and pure cowards too scared to defend themselves. Add to that the old people, and the "family guys" who will not want to put their wife and kids in danger.
It’s more like black on white attacks...the whites haven’t responded yet. When they do, THEN it will be a war.
The BLM is trying to erase the blue line that protects them from retaliation.
If they succeed, then whites will have no choice but to fight back. BLM will rue the day they decided killing cops was a “good idea”.
Omama’s end game is to get the race war started so he can declare martial law so he can cancel elections and declare himself in charge as dictator.
In my adult lifetime, every time a Rat president is coming down the stretch, those kinds of conspiracy theories emerge. Funny how it never happens when a GOP president is coming down the stretch. I think Rats plant that idea to make conservatives look like kooks. Just let it go - never going to happen.
During the Baltimore riots last year, when it looked for all the world that the city was going to be not only completely destroyed, but also was on the brink of an out-and-out race war, I talked to a friend who tends toward liberalism on racial matters. He said “If this is going to truly be an us versus them scenario, I’m going to have to pick us.”
I suspect there are countless people like him - people who want to “do the right thing” but, when painted into a corner, will do whatever they need to to protect themselves and their people.
