Incirlik Air Base in Turkey has been placed on lockdown. The base is used by US, UK, Saudi and Turkish forces to run airstrikes against ISIS.
The power at the base was reportedly cut off after the coup attempt Saturday morning in Ankara and Istanbul.
And flights are grounded.
The Erdogan government believes the air base was used to launch attacks during the coup attempt last night.
Now this….
Turkey is holding the US military hostage at Incirlik.

Clinton’s campaign and the Clinton Foundation have taken in hundreds of thousands of dollars from Gülen’s followers, including from Recep Ozkan, former president of the Gülen-connected Turkish Cultural Center.
Mr. Ozkan has been identified as a key Gülen operative in New York. According to the Clinton Foundation website, he contributed between $500,000 and $1 million. Unsurprisingly, former President Bill Clinton has appeared at Gülen movement events and praised the founder’s contributions to world peace and inter-religious understanding.
The ties also go directly to the Democratic presidential candidate. The same Mr. Ozkan hosted then-Sen. Hillary Clinton at Ramadan dinners in 2006 and 2007. He contributed $25,000 to her 2008 presidential campaign. As an executive of JIG Corp, Everglobel Partners and Baharu Inc., he gave $25,000 to the pro-Clinton Ready PAC in 2014 and topped it with extra $5,400 last year.
I’d like some clarification on this. I was stationed in Turkey in 1971 when there was a coup (granted, it was not of the caliber of the one this past Friday), and we were restricted to base. But, we were never under any real threat. It was just a cautionary move, and under the circumstances was not unusual. Moreover, our base was a CDI (Common Defense Installation), so there were Turkish troops there, as well. Incirlik is similar.

Turkey knows better than to fire on a US plane, especially a C-117 full of Soliers and Airman. Without Turkey, NATO is more vulnerable to Russian aggression. If Russia knows that Turkey will not support NATO, how long before they start taking back more of the old Soviet Union? Various former Soviet Bloc countries are nervous while Putin is putting on his dancing shoes.
