The people that Trump needs in the middle, the Reagan Democrats, don’t care who the VP is, they only pay attention to who’s on the top. If it had been a bible-thumper, like Cruz, they would have been turned off. But Trump is fine, he won’t be spouting Jesus at them every speech.
Trump’s weakness, from the start, has always been the base, especially considering his checkered past - having been on multiple sides of most issues. Would the conservative base trust him enough to come out for him in November? Had he picked an ‘inclusive moderate’, they may not have. But he picked a SOLID CONSERVATIVE. Those people do look at the VP choice and they like it.

The rest of them will judge Trump independently and could care less about Pence.
