Following the failed Turkish coup, U.S. military operations out of Turkey’s giant Incirlik Air Base - critical in the ongoing campaign against ISIS - came to a halt Saturday afternoon as the Turkish military closed the airspace around the base and suspended all US-led operations, mostly targeting the Islamic State.

Rumor rpt rumor: #Erdogan may try to “trade” #Incirlik for #Gulen. Let’s hope it’s just static. The real thing would be a crisis of its own.

Something also tells me the coup was orchestrated by the EU, Russia, or us with pledges of support.

We knew something was brewing. The US ordered the evacuation of all military and diplomatic dependants a while ago. Israel ordered its citizens out at the same time.

It was no coup, it was a Reichstag Fire.

That certainly appears to be the case with each passing hour today .....

It already is.

They held down NATO’s right flank against the USSR and the Warsaw Pact for decades. They were the most feared soldiers fighting for the UN (the US, in reality) in the Korean War. Turkey was also the first Muslim country to recognize Israel (Iran was second in 1953) I’ve met US military whose best second language was Turkish. The problems started with Erdogan and his party and that’s where the problems must be solved. Let this failed coup be like any “good” failure. A learning experience and preparation for the next try.

From Twitter:

Indications are that the incident at Incirlik AFB is still ongoing, base is still at FPDELTA, government forces still outside base

“Hook in the jaw” — ehhhhh...remote possibility, but likely not. The textual sense is that a/c is on a military campaign at the time, not vacationing.

My read is that, when it’s “The Real Deal” it’ll be a very obvious “fit” with the prophetic passages that apply; nobody with even a passing catalogue of familiarity with chapters like Daniel 9, or Ezekiel 38 will have ANY doubts.

Take a look at the verbiage in 2 Thess. 2 concerning anti-christ; it doesn’t say he will be “discovered” or that he will be “identified”; it says he will be “revealed.” It won’t be a detective operation; nobody will have to work hard to figure out who this guy is.

So, I get 2 things out of that: first, it’s not a good investment of time trying to figure out who the guy is before he’s revealed; second, when the event described happens, the scriptural text will fit like a glove; any man-on-the-street type will be able to look at the headline, read the biblical text and agree, “Wow, this here in the Bible is what just happened.”

People who study biblical prophecy so as to have the background to understand what’s happening when it finally does have never done themselves any good service trying to jimmy current headlines into various prophetic events described in scripture. When it really IS the “real thing” nobody has to break out a textual crowbar to make the prophecies fit the events.

You are right.

Can there be any doubt now that this isa caliphate in the making. They have done it before and they are doing it again.

Scorched earth is all we should leave behind.

The world as we know it is fast changing. The ME is becoming more of a cesspool than it is now and at least the Eastern Medterrinean is going to become an islamic pond.

My wife spoke to a former coworker in Turkey and he described it as “very bad for Turkey”. It could flip Turkey to an Islamic state.

Just goes to prove the point that anything Muslim only stays moderate for so long.

Could flip it to an islamic state? I’d say you can bank on it with a very high probability of success. For right now I’d say it is going to be up the Russians to keep islam at bay if they want to do that. I keep waiting for the calculus of geopolitics to shift and it will. ME oil is becoming less and less important to US and the threat of islam is growing. It almost feels like the camps are being set up for the last battle.

“a Reichstag Fire”
And such an event doesn’t have to perpetrated by the regime. Much better to manipulate and fool an opponent into bringing it about.

EVERYBODY is ignoring the advantage to the Chinese of having the Bosphorous and Turkey as a gateway to the Silk Road. The Silk Road is a big deal for the Chinese and the world.
China’s entry into ‘The Great Game’ that has been the dynamic behind the last several hundred years Western/Middle East maneuvering is monumental.
(Not saying any Chinese fingerprints are here, but that motives of the actors are affected.)

Don’t put it past Turkey to go full Islamic and turn against the U.S. and imprison all U.S. Military personnel.

I understand that if the bomb is made inactive by use of the Permissive Action Link it simply fries the electronics to prevent detonation.

More so with Command Disablement System (CDS) than PAL.
