Dickey: France is ‘Not Alabama,’ Terrorist Can’t Get Guns ‘In Any Old Store’

Appearing on MSNBC in the 11 a.m. ET hour on Friday, Daily Beast editor and NBC News contributor Christopher Dickey was confounded by the idea that the terrorist who launched Thursday’s attack on France was heavily armed: “...where the hell did he get those arms? I mean, this is not Alabama or South Carolina or Texas. You just can't go buy automatic pistols in any old store in town by showing your driver's license.”

Last time I was in Alabama a store needed to have an FFL to sell guns. Maybe the author was referring to Allahbama, a different place entirely.

As for France, no, terrorists can't get guns in any old store store. They have to get them like anyone else in France who wants a gun - from some Corsican guy.

Just curious, was the “attack truck” in Nice fully automatic or bolt action. Anybody? Buheler?

It was a "large capacity" truck.

Is France a gun-free zone?

Waaaaay back in the 1970s when I was an exchange student for a year in France, the first family I lived with had a gun cabinet in the vestibule of their house. It was not locked. Grandpère would grab a rifle whenever he would leave the house. Often, he would return with the rifle and a hare.

I just saw a map of worldwide gun ownership in another thread. There are about 30-40 guns per 100 people in France. That is lower than the US and Switzerland (#1 and #2 for gun ownership), but it is far higher than in sub-Saharan Africa. Which includes some very violent places, I might add.

1. Terrorists don’t generally get their guns from a “store”.

2. The French people can’t legally get guns in “any old store”, or pretty much any store for that matter. This is why they keep getting slaughtered by their muslim “guests”.

Somebody posted yesterday that this type of truck is commonly hitched to a trailer and consequently they are referred to as a semis.

Additionally, these trucks are equipped with an automatic transmission.

The press immediately seized upon this and proclaimed that this was a "semi automatic truck" and they then began attempting to determine whether or not "high capacity fuel tanks" were involved.

It is amazing how out-of-touch some of these people are. Do they seriously think a terrorist with underground connections is going to have a hard time getting guns and explosives??? It’s about as hard as buying a gram of pot in Boulder.

That was what I thought when I read this article: that if u want a gun, u can get a gun - whether u r in a “no guns allowed” country or not.

An automatic Assault Truck. Can’t they restrict their accessibility??? Think of the children !!

I also heard that the truck had an extended capacity multi-gallon fuel tank. Who needs that much fuel?

Close the "truck show" loophole!

“Those reports were false.
The guy had one handgun.
And the truck did the killing.”

So there were no high powered rifles and grenades?
