Washington (CNN)Jeb Bush is carrying his crusade against Donald Trump to the doorstep of the Republican convention, saying that he is not the future of the Republican Party even as it prepares to nominate him.

Bush, once seen as the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, remains one of the most prominent anti-Trump holdouts in the GOP. In an op-ed for The Washington Post published Friday, Bush acknowledged that Trump had capitalized on legitimate frustrations with American politics.

I used to really like G.W. I even bought a thank you card to send to him after he left office, telling him I appreciated how he worked hard to keep America safe after September 11.

I never did send it, because at first I couldn’t find his personal address, then I forgot.

Now, he cannot even attend the convention? That really turns me off about him. About the whole family.

There will never be another Bush in the White House and we have Trump to thank for that—because they cannot be gracious enough to support the choice of the people.
