Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets to confront the military after it announced it had take control of the country from the Government of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This is the dramatic moment a tank commander is dragged from the turret by angry Turkish protesters after a military coup has left the country in chaos.

On a side note, he could have simply locked the hatch and traversed the turret really fast. That would have swept anyone off that vehicle in about 2 seconds.

Is the coup failing/succeeding/we dont know?

Hard to know. The first target in any competent coup should be media outlets in order to control the messaging which is why you'll see so many conflicting reports.

I would imagine to do it really effectively, while all your assets are in place ready to deploy, the first target would be the an unsuspecting president.☺ Then secure communications and give the announcement, control airports etc..

Yeah, that's where they screwed up, big time. Erdogan should have been the first Turk to learn of the coup. At gunpoint.

Erdogan was vacationing in Marmaris, a lovely resort on the Mediterranean. The airport where Erdogan's Gulfstream was parked is at Dalyan. Marmaris to Dalyan is 1h18m, according to Google. Erdogan managed to give a Face Time interview, travel to the airport, hop on his plane, and fly to Istanbul without being stopped.
