Eighty-four people died late on Thursday night as a lorry drove for more than a mile through the Bastille Day crowds in the southern French city of Nice. The driver eventually died in a hail of police bullets. The incident, on a day when the French celebrate equality, liberty and fraternity, could hardly be more horrific.

The proper response by the French would be to identify the town this murderer came from, scramble a Mirage fighter and nuke it from the face of the earth. That would be a good start.

On the contrary, there's a great deal we can do that we aren't, largely because liberal fools such as this one keep bleating "there's no way to stop it!" Border control. Surveillance. Deportation. Retaliation - no one wants to talk about that one because violence is icky but in fact it is the prospect of retaliation that catches a lot more attention from terrorism supporters than little flickering candles and heartstring-plucking hashtags. There's a lot of laughter, ululation, and candy-distribution in certain places that might be taught to fear that sort of gloating.
The principal thing the author refuses to acknowledge is that these are not ordinary, random acts of madness, and treating them as ordinary crimes ignores their real source and origin. The author apparently feels that war cannot reach him so long as he does not acknowledge it. That's what has gotten us where we are.
On day #1, Trump should broadcast to the world that the Muslim world has the immediate responsibility to rein in their terrorists. It is their responsibility, not ours.
Therefore, the next terror attack that occurs in Europe or in the US will result in the utter destruction of the Kaabah. With each succeeding attack, there will be utter destruction of a minaret of the grand mosque. Etc., etc.
And Trump should finish the announcement with, “I’m just crazy enough to do it. So, are you feeling lucky?” I can dream, can’t I?
Yes, Europe and blue states would run knee-deep in pee, but OTOH nothing is working now to stop this stuff.
Somebody should remind this idiot that he’d be speaking German if the US’s response to the Nazis and WWII was only to have sympathy for England. After all, the Germans didn’t attack us. We could have just taken care of Japan and left England to fend for herself. Just saying.
