That was my first thought also. Four fifths of white evangelicals already planned to vote Trump. Which could actually amount to a net loss with Pence’s problems on other issues.

Saying Pence isn't a smart person I very much doubt you could graduate from Hanover College as he did! Around a fourth of the freshmen or more fail and have to go elsewhere. It's a tough school to be admitted to and graduate from.

Read Pence's BIO before making stupid remarks Mr. so-called All-Not-Knowing!

Pretty much anybody else Trump could have picked would have been a MSM pinata/ punching bag from now till Nov. We see mainly the strengths of the alternate picks, but Trump haters everywhere would have exploited their baggage, etc. With Pence, they have nothing (plus he’s a Christian conservative). A good, very solid choice.

What are some of the things that made him your top choice?

I think he should have waited and announced the VP and the rest of the cabinet picks (hopefully not fill all of the cabinets because some departments must be eliminated) on Saturday.

Another “Wall-flower” for VP. So predictable.

There was a thread the other day about which VP prospect was favored by Trump himself and which was preferred by his kids.

It would be interesting to know “who won”...Anyone remember?

Pence repeatedly opposed George W. Bush’s proposals to expand government.

But he supported TPP which would expand corporate powers...

Mike Pence is a compromise pick among Trumps Family. Mike Pence is 57 years old. If Trump does 2 terms he’s practically a shoe-in for President at 65. Possibly help boot strap some of Trumps kids into politics.

Mike Pence himself is taking a bold gamble that he can help Trump ease the qualms of some of the missing politicians that haven’t endorsed Trump.

As a first major move from the Trump would-be President is auspicious in that it’s sound and solid choice, which imho will be Trumps legacy as President — sound and solid choices for America.

Also the Pence selection appears to have finally snuffed-out the #NeverTrump revolt. So we can move on and focus on the critical business of beating Hillary.

He couldn’t have waited to announce Pence. From what I understand, if Pence was going to run for re-election for Governor, he had until noon today to file the paperwork.

I’d go with Rudy. We need people like Clarke where they are for now.

I hope he does it soon. If he can start giving us reason to believe he will indeed shake up the Washington culture by his proposals for cabinet picks, he'll gain more voters. Sessions, Gingrich, Gen Flynn and others would make great cabinet members.

I implore you Mr. Trump, give us reason to believe .......

Don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying for certain Pence is not smart enough to raise his game. He may be, and I hope he does.

I am just keeping my fingers crossed that Pence does raise his game and that he proves to be valuable in helping Mr. Trump elected.

I’m sure Christie is working on the list of “Executive Orders to Be Killed” on Day 2.

.
Vastly better than Pelousey’s couch partner for sure, but I don’t see Pence as particularly strong.
