My concern is that within that zone is where attendees will be and outside that zone will be armed and angry disruptors. I won’t be there because I don’t go anywhere I can’t be armed, but I fear for those attendees who will be outnumbered, outarmed, and strategically out-maneuvered.

The New Black Panthers have publically announced their plans to attend the "protests" carrying their own firearms. They do not seem very unnerved at the prospect of "marching amid so much firepower".
Actual convention delegates will of course be disarmed while inside the assembly area, and extremely vulnerable when in-transit to their hotels.
Police are complaining about staff shortages. There are allegations of "stand-down" orders that will be given from the top commanders.
It's about time to start placing our bets on the outcome.
The bullies are afraid that the targets might be armed.
